Professional[edit]
I have a BS degree in Chemical Engineering and have worked in environmental consulting for more than 25 years. I have expertise in environmental remediation (cleaning up contaminated soil and groundwater) and a pretty broad background in geology and hydrogeology as well.
Hobbies and interests[edit]
I'm a computer geek (building and programming) and self-described engineering nerd. If something is technical or complicated, it interests me, if only briefly. I have a particular interest in railroading, railfanning, and model railroading. I enjoy strategy gaming, especially "god games." Kill your television.
What's up with that name?[edit]
Once before we were married, my wife was visiting my house. She noticed that my kids (from my first marriage) had stuck several magnetic letters to the refrigerator. There were eight in all: BFILOQXY. She arranged them several ways and hit upon QLFIXBOY. This seemed appropriate to her, as I'm reputed to be able to repair almost anything, I'm male, and she thinks I'm QL (pronounced "kewl", which derives from "cool").
