Peter L Higginson has a BSc in Mathematics from University College London and an MSc in Computer Science from the Institute of Computer Science, University of London.

After his MSc he became a research assistant at the Institute of Computer Science, and then a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science (and Statistics) at University College London. While there he taught computer science and communications and connected the first UK host to ARPAnet. He is listed on the "Birth of the Internet" plaque at Stanford University.

He left the University in 1986 to work for a start-up making X.25 switches and later worked for Digital Equipment Corp and Lucent Technologies on high-speed LAN/WAN interconnection projects and multicast and routing control software. Most recently he ran the test group for a VoIP start-up before retiring in 2008. He has a number of patents, publications and standards contributions.

In retirement he has setup a few PHP based websites and is getting involved with local schools on computing projects. He lives in Caversham, Reading, Berkshire, UK.
