Article for Deletion[edit]

An article which I assisted in creating, is now considered under the Article for Deletion policy, and I think it's unfair. They are using Notability, and Fiction as levers to attack and try to delete the article. Can you take a look and let me know if it's a hopeless cause? The article is:

Heya,you told that you assisted to creat the Kigo-articel... Do you know all who created the article? Because we need a statement of those creators if the subtext is all stated...y'know? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.212.51.32 (talkcontribs)

Wikipedia Fungus Collaboration as of Jan 2007[edit]

Hi, I noticed you showed some interest in fungi previously. DYK there are no fungal Featured Articles on wikipedia at all? I've modelled this on the dinosaur collaboration which has yielded a few FAs. Please have a look and cast your vote and we'll try a real concerted attempt at an FA. AfD Alert[edit]

An editor has nominated the article Meanings of asteroid names (139001-140000) for deletion, under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the nomination (also see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on why the topic of the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome: participate in the discussion by editing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Meanings of asteroid names (139001-140000). Add four tildes like this ˜˜˜˜ to sign your comments. You can also edit the article Meanings of asteroid names (139001-140000) during the discussion, but do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top of the article), this will not end the deletion debate. Airdeny deleted[edit]

I speedy deleted a few author-requested deletions of Argyll and Bute villages and also accidentally deleted Airdeny (which you created). If you want to restore Airdeny that is fine by me, just letting you know. Cheers,--Commander Keane 03:34, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Rupi-released.JPG)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Rupi-released.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/MER-C 2[edit]

This editor has professed to be a deletionist in his RfA. My experience with him/her at AfD is that of a rubber stamp for the nomination. As the "founder" of Inclusionism I thought this might be interesting. It look slike he/she is rallying the deletionist troops for a rubber stamping of the RfD.

Concerned!

Your monobook is in Category:Wikipedia tools[edit]

Your monobook is in Category:Wikipedia tools. This is most likely because when you were copying scripts into yout monobook you accidentaly copied their category. Since your monobook is not a tool itself, please remove this category from it. If you intend for your monobook to be a tool, please consider creating a subpage with a more descriptive name, and moving the category there. List of swamps in American Samoa[edit]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article List of swamps in American Samoa, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Lafayette Towers Apartments[edit]

Please don't redirect the Lafayette Towers Apartments East to the old Lafayette Towers Apartments apartment. there are two building with two articles, Lafayette Towers Apartments West and Lafayette Towers Apartments East. The old Lafayette Towers Apartments I redirected to Lafayette Park, Detroit which lists all 5 apartments in the Historic complex Mies van der Rohe Residential District, Lafayette Park. This follows the Riverfront Tower II three seperate articles in Detroit. thanks--Mikerussell 05:31, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello Merovingian, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Men in Black Poster.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Merovingian/RFA archive-4. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Please note that it is possible that the image on your page is included vie a template or usebox. In that case, please find a free image for the template or userbox. Nonsense of Jilly[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Jilly, by DrowningInRoyalty, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Jilly provides no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Jilly, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Jilly itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 00:57, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Blogs are worthwhile for notability[edit]

I have been trying to argue that blogs should be able to establish notability. ie if many blogs discuss a subject that itself makes it notable. I know Wikipedia doesn't allow them to establish content but I think it should allow notability. I have been trying to argue for this on Wikipedia talk:Notability --Heliumballoon 11:44, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

History of the petroleum industry in Canada[edit]

I am trying to rename the following three articles, so I can create a template and put them into a series. Unfortunately, I have made a bit of a mess of things.

Here is what I have tried (somewhat unsuccessfully) to do:

1. Create a useful template "Canadianpetroleumhistory. 2. Rename the article "History of the petroleum industry in Canada, part one" to "History of the petroleum industry in Canada" 3. Rename the article "History of the petroleum industry in Canada, part two" to "History of the petroleum industry in Canada (Oil sands and heave oil) 4. Rename the article "History of the petroleum industry in Canada, part three" to "History of the petroleum industry in Canada (Frontier exploration and development) 5. Rename the article "History of the natural gas liquids industry in Canada" to "History of the petroleum industry in Canada (Natural gas liquids)

The idea is that at the end of this process this will be a series of articles about Canadian petroleum history, each referenced within the series in the manner of the History of Brazil.

Can you help me, please? If you just fix the template and insert it properly into the first article, I will do the rest.... 05:34, 2 June 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pmbcomm (talkcontribs)

History of the petroleum industry in Canada (natural gas liquids)[edit]

Thanks very much for fixing my template. It works fine now, except in the article noted above. For some reason, when I click there I go to the article, but the title is not bolded in the template box. No biggie, but if you can think of a solution that would be great. Thanks again. Dear Ryan[edit]

Smile a little, smile a little, all along the road;
Every life must have its burden, every heart its load.
Why sit down in gloom and darkness with your grief to sup?
As you drink Fate's bitter tonic, smile across the cup.

Smile upon the troubled pilgrims whom you pass and meet;
Frowns are thorns, and smiles are blossoms, oft for weary feet.
Do not make the way seem harder by a sullen face;
Smile a little, smile a little, brighten up the place.

Smile upon your undone labour; not for one who grieves
O'er his task waits wealth or glory; he who smiles achieves.
Though you meet with loss and sorrow in the passing years,
Smile a little, smile a little... even through your tears!

Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Have a beautiful day, dear Ryan! :)

re Lolicon image[edit]

For purely political reasons if nothing else, we cannot have kiddie cheescake pictures which include elements of the Wikipedia logo. Let us not fight over this. The author can remove the puzzle pieces easily enough. Herostratus 05:53, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

  • The image you reference is not a child. This is a huge difference. We do not want the Lolicon image appearing somewhere with the caption "Wikipedia trademarks on a child with a come-hither look highlights the type of content that Wikipedia explicitly endorses" or something. Which is what I mean by political reasons. Herostratus 06:05, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
    • That we have a problem with images in the past hardly means it can't happen again and wouldn't be bad if it did. Yes we have much worse things to worry about, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't worry about this at all. All I'm asking is for the puzzle pieces to be removed. Trust me on this, this is not OK. Herostratus 14:32, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
      • Just an advice.In situations like thies simply upload the image to the commons.No need for wheel waring.--Bip beep 16:27, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

MediaWiki:Bad image list[edit]

Hey. I'm just dropping you a note that this didn't work because the image had been added to the MediaWiki:Bad image list. I removed the original image from there earlier. Prolog 01:43, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Image:LoliWikipetan.jpg[edit]

We do not need sexualised images of Wikipe-tan to illustrate Lolicon, there are plenty of other images of Lolicon that could be used. Wikipe-tan is a symbol of Wikipedia represented by a young girl. Having her in a sexual context associates Wikipedia with sexualising children which is clearly damaging to the interests of this project. The images should not be used on any page. WjBscribe 02:15, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

The use of this image irresponsibly compromises Wikipedia. The list can be used for whatever purpose the Community wishes it to be sued (at the end of the day WP:IAR applies anyway). Until these images can be deleted from Commons they should not be usable on any page. WjBscribe 02:24, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
I will not revert again on the image list, but I hope others will. I believe the matter has been raised with ArbCom, I intend to ensure it is considered by the foundation also. Those images are unnaceptable. WjBscribe 02:30, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
