Baseball on Wikicities[edit]

Hi Merovingian, Googie Man here. I found your name on a list of Wikipedia baseball fans Jimbo and Angela have made a new website called Wikicities. This link in particular will take you to the baseball Wikicity. As you'll see it's similar to Wikipedia, but my hope is this will allow baseball fans to do more and different things, like reporting on games, in depth statistics, create mulitple pages for pictures, and whatever else baseball fans care to create. You've done such great work on Wikipedia I was hoping you could help me get this baseball Wikicity off the ground. Please let me know what you think either at my talk page, or you can email me at terry@wikia.com. Thanks! Googie Man(Talk), 20:38, 3 January 2006.

Wheel wars[edit]

In the light of recent controversies I have done some investigation into wheel warring, and have found you to be one of the three most often involved parties. As I believe wheel warring is disruptive to the Wiki, I have requested the ArbCom to look into this. Please take a look at Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration#Wheel warring. Image source[edit]

You need to provide a source for Image:1917 flute.jpg. I removed the {{unverified}} tag, as it seemed to be PD(due to 1917), but a source is still needed. JesseW, the juggling janitor 18:58, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

RFA vote[edit]

May I point out that this move was incorrect, since my vote was in fact to oppose the candidate? It's moot now since I've reconsidered and am now in support, but please don't move votes around. Radiant_>|< 20:52, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia is a smaller world than I thought[edit]

The following was posted to your talk page:

Bot for Universities[edit]

Hi Phil,

I am writing regarding a bot for collecting info from the world universities. I got your message about my request. Yes you got my question right. You were asking me free source for it. Here is the source I would like to use for the bot about the universities: http://findaschool.org/. Could you please help me with writing a bot now? Your help would be greately appreciated.

Best,

Resid Gulerdem 08:20, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

I reached your user page completely by chance. When visiting the livejournals of some old high school friends I thought to check if anyone had MediaWiki as an "interest". Impressed by the ammount of material in your talk page (like the archives) I read the first entry. Imagine my surpise when I saw here the exact contents of an email I recieved just today?!
It would seem that out of the thousands of Wikipedia users out there, you posted on my talk page in 2004 (probably automated?) and as a result met another (aparently confused) user.
Well, for whatever it's worth I have really taken an interest in MediaWiki since 2004 and work on the source code, contributing wherever I can. Your post in my talk page two years ago, the bureaucracy, even the arguments over metatemplates make wikipedia what it is.
I see you already replied on his talk page. I will leave a message there as well with some links to the bot developers.
Thanks, Phil Harnish (Info | Talk) 18:22, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Liberty ships pages[edit]

I was just wondering why the changes to the Liberty ship pages from "List of Liberty ships, N" to "List of Liberty ships: N"? I based the article names on the similar division of U.S. Navy ships "List of United States Navy ships, N" I'm OK with it, but it seems we should be consistent in handling divided pages like these. Thanks. — Bellhalla 13:52, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Perfect 10 models[edit]

Merovingian, you've been very helpful in keeping the Marisa Miller entry cleaned up. I was wondering if you'd voice your support in keeping my newly created Perfect 10 models list, which follows the same pattern as other long-standing lists. I'd appreciate it. About Merovingian/Userboxes[edit]

Hi Merovingian. I looked at your Merovingian/Userboxes page and found that in Firefox the userboxes cover the side navigation and in Internet Explorer you have to scroll sideways to see everything. Just thought you should know.

Articles For Deletion[edit]

Hi, a while ago you made some comments about the presence of bible-verse articles, and/or source texts of the bible, and you may therefore be interested in related new discussions:

Hail Frankish King! Just joined the Inclusionists, which I believe you founded, although I'm not quite sure what their aim is. Is it like "waste not, want not" or something? - 16:27, 17 January 2006 (UTC) The Great Gavini talk

request for information?[edit]

According to Special:Log/Delete, you deleted and then restored certain revisions of User talk:Zordrac, with the reason stated being "to remove potentially sensitive personal information". However, Zordrac has been making some very serious allegations against me, and while it should be entirely easy to disprove Zordrac's entirely false and malicious charges, other editors are pointing out that it's theoretically possible that the removal of edits from the history of the page where my purported bad behavior allegedly occurred could have removed the evidence that I did it -- which in turn makes it impossible for me to prove that I didn't do it. Can you please provide some detail about what was removed from the page history and why? -- Antaeus Feldspar 01:29, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Nomination for Endomion/Ruby[edit]

Thank you for nominating me to be an administrator! Unfortunately, I have raised some eyebrows by trying to bring a more neutral voice to the Intelligent design article. Some of these folks are administrators, and as you can see from their ability to round up votes in packs my nomination would be rejected in about five minutes. So it is with gratitude but with sorrow that I must decline. Ruby 04:47, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Brian Chase (Wikipedia hoaxer) and Brian Chase (hoaxer)[edit]

I came across this, and noticed that the histories were broked, I mentioned it already at User_talk:Sam_Sloan#Brian_Chase_(Wikipedia_hoaxer), please take a look at what I wrote. I also mentioned the solution, which was to post it at WP:RM, but I've used RM before and it takes a while, so being that you are partly responsible for it, maybe you could use your magical admin powers and correct it? Have fun. - Hahnchen 07:11, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

proposed policy[edit]

Hi, you recently commented on bible-verse articles, and may therefore be interested in commenting about a proposed policy covering roughly 50 specific verses:

An Esperanzial note[edit]

As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.

In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)

Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

On your page for the Association for Inclusionists Wikipedians, why is Wikiliberal a dead link? Also, why are you listed as inactive on your user page. You seem to be very active. Thanks!--Beth Wellington 22:18, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

Participant alert regarding Wikiproject on Advertising[edit]

The Wikiproject No Ads, created as a backlash against the Answers.com deal, has served an important function in providing a space for users to express their disagreement with the Foundation proposal. While the current controversies about userboxes raise questions about political and social advocacy on Wikipedia, there should be greater flexibility regarding advocacy about Wikipedia in the Wikipedia namespace. Reported and linked by Slashdot and other press sources as a unique and spontaneous occurence in Wikipedia history, it has apparently had some impact as, despite being scheduled to begin in January, not a peep has been heard about the trial and proposed sponsored link since the deal's controversial announcement months ago. Currently, however, there is an attempt to delete the project or move it off Wikipedia altogether. Since the Foundation has provided no additional information and has not attempted to answer the specific questions that participants in the project raised, it is unclear if the Answers.com deal has been abandoned or simply delayed. Until the situation becomes more clear, I believe the group should still have a place in the Wikipedia namespace. Sincerely, Tfine80 00:23, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

RfD[edit]

I am workign on cleaning up the begining of some indexes of articles who's characters don't start with an alphanumeric. I have nominated ((((っ´ω`)っ, a redirect you created for deletion. Redirects are cheap, and if this is being used please let me know where and I will withdraw the nom, else it can run it's course on RfD. Thanks, xaosflux Talk/CVU 14:34, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
