History[edit]

On the second anniversary of Zimbabwe's independence in April 1982, the capital of Zimbabwe, Salisbury was renamed Harare. The city adopted both new municipal arms and flag.

Description[edit]

Five stripes as follows:

  • First stripe: six yellow sun rays
  • Second stripe: plain yellow stripe
  • The central stripe is red with two yellow tobacco leaves
  • Four stripe: plain yellow stripe
  • Five stripe: plain blue with a yellow Zimbabwean bird in the centre.
