Hello, I'm Lucas7yoshi!

I have recently taken to being more active on Wikipedia, namely with counter vandalism. Additionally, I occasionally will edit, cleanup or otherwise refine articles, particularly those in the area of video games.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns by all means please write it on my talk page.

I mostly contribute by means of...

Counter Vandalism[edit]

I have taken up reverting vandalism and other nonconstructive edits across the English Wikipedia. For reasons not entirely known to me - I find it rather relaxing, and it helps keep a website I get a lot of use out of clean and accurate.

If you see me make a mistake - please let me know on my talk page so that I can learn and improve moving forward. I genuinely appreciate it and take zero offence to any inquires or objections to edits I make (Just so long as you aren't an obvious troll.)

Counter Vandalism Notes[edit]

  • ASSUME GOOD FAITH! (Normally pretty good at this. But never hurts to reiterate it)
  • Before reverting an edit that seems plausible but doesn't add any new citations, check nearby citations (if any) to see if they back the edit before reverting.
  • For above, and otherwise, be careful to note small refs that link to others. Typical references can be quite large in byte size and content, but references to already existing ones can be sneaky so take care to spot them when relevant.
  • If in doubt, don't revert.
  • Always read Huggle popups, don't assume its a "received a message too recently" popup so you don't accidentally revert someone elses revert of vandalism... Sorry Lynch44!
  • Don't look away from screen to press revert button or you may miss a automatically loaded new edit to the page and end up reverting that, if you look at the screen you'll probably see it and have a chance to cancel it!!!
  • In the (thankfully, rare) event an edit warrants a T&S report, use an appropriate custom revert message and don't warn where applicable.
  • In the event of a mass, persisted vandal (after after fourth warning and reporting to WP:AIV:
    • If they are vandalizing one page, refrain from reverting too much as that can just make a wall of vandal contributions and reverts
      • An exception to this may be high impact pages, but if its a relatively minor page it's likely best to wait until an admin blocks them to avoid making a total wall of reverts.
    • If they are vandalizing an immense quantity of pages, this would be a more reasonable circumstance to mass revert across all their pages as on an individual page level, it doesn't really stand out in the history.
      • Huggle can do this with Mass Actions.Note: have never used yet...

Learn from my mistakes just as I do, so you never make them in the first place!
