Critical Pedagogy is believed to have its roots in the critical theory of the Frankfurt School, which was established in 1923. As as an outgrowth of critical theory, critical pedagogy is intended to educate and work towards a realization of the emancipatory goals of critical pedagogy. The theory is influenced by Karl Marx who believed that inequality is a result of socioeconomic differences and that all people need to work toward a socialized economy.[1]
While prominent figures include Paulo Freire, Henry Giroux, Peter McLaren, Bell hooks, and others, it is important to note that their work on critical pedagogy varies in focus. For example, some approach critical pedagogy from a Marxist perspective with a focus on class.[2][3] Paulo Freire,[4][5] on the other hand, writes about how critical pedagogy can lead to liberty and freedom of the oppressed and marginalized. Bell hooks[6][7] applies a feminist perspective to critical pedagogy and Ira Shor,[8] for example, advocates for the need of moving the theoretical framework of critical pedagogy to a more practical one.[1]

- In the first sentence: "and to act as one realization of the theory's goal's" is a bit confusing becuase it's unclear what this phrase is referring to (Frankfurt School, critical theory, or critical pedagogy. I would suggest ending the first sentence after "which was established in 1923." And then beginning a new sentence that more clearly explains this "realization of the theory's goals." For instance, "As as an outgrowth of critical theory, critical pedagogy is intended to educate and work towards a realization of the emancipatory goals of critical pedagogy."
