Corrado was selected by the Canucks in the fifth round, 150th overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He signed a three-year entry level contract with the Canucks after a successful training camp.[1]

Playing career[edit]

Junior[edit]

Corrado played with the Vaughan Kings minor midget AAA team in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) during the 2008–09 season where he scored 15 goals and added 33 assists in 62 games.[2] During the off-season he was selected by the Sudbury Wolves in the second round, 25th overall, of the 2009 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Draft.[3] In his rookie season Corrado played in 63 games, scoring one goal and nine points.[2] Sudbury finished in eighth qualifying for the post season where they matched up against the top seeded Barrie Colts.[4] Corrado played in four games registering one assist as the Wolves were swept in the first round.[2][5]

He followed that up by playing 67 of 68 regular season games in the following season his offensive output more than tripled as he registered 4 goals and 30 points. He then added another goal and four assists in eight playoff games.

Corrado was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the fifth round, 150th overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. After a successful first NHL training camp with the Canucks, Corrado signed his 3-year entry level contract with the Canucks on September 23, 2011 before being returned to Sudbury.

Corrado made his professional hockey debut on April 7, 2012 with the Chicago Wolves after Sudbury was eliminated from the OHL playoffs. Corrado appeared in four regular season games, registering one assist. He also played in two playoff games before Chicago was eliminated from the playoffs by San Antonio.

On January 8 2013, Frank Corrado was traded from the Sudbury Wolves to the Kitchener Rangers. On April 15th, 2013, Corrado was assigned to the Chicago Wolves.[6]

Professional[edit]

On April 22, 2013, Corrado made his NHL debut against the Chicago Blackhawks. He logged 17:20 of ice time and had three hits. The Canucks kept Corrado for their opening round playoff sweep by the San Jose Sharks, thus eating the first year of his Entry Level Contract.

Jeremy Welsh (born April 30, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre who currently plays for the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract with the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Early life[edit]

Welsh was born in Bayfield, Ontario on April 30, 1988 to Ralph and Doreen Welsh.[7][8] He grew up on a farm that has been in his family for four generation. As a child Welsh shot pucks inside of a barn on a daily basis.[7]

Welsh began his junior hockey career playing for the Oakville Blades in the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League (OPJHL) during the 2007–08 season.[8] In his first season Welsh scored 17 goals and 52 points helping Oakville to the Frank L. Buckland Trophy and Dudley Hewitt Cup championship.[8][2] With the victory the Blades advanced to the Royal Bank Cup, a tournament to determine the Canadian Junior A champion. In the tournament Oakville won only one game. Throughout the tournaments Welsh played in 26 games and recorded 6 goals and 20 points and was named best forward at the Royal Bank Cup.[8][2]

He was called up by the Canucks on on October 19, and made his Canucks debut the following day.[14][15] In his fifteenth game with Vancouver Welsh deflected a Ryan Stanton shot past Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky for his first NHL goal. By doing so he became the first former Union player to score an NHL goal.[14]
