I am an academic (semi-retired), with qualifications in earth sciences, behavioural sciences and research methods. Also interested in improving articles about Australian history, society, culture, books and literature.

I am a big fan of Wikipedia as a go-to place, and as a valuable and largely reliable (at least 80% reliable) resource of factual information, in particular to counter misinformation (fake news) that has been produced by the rise of social media. Wikipedia also plays an important role in providing general information, as well as rapid concise summaries of current evolving events.

Provides excellent stimulation if you are retired and are looking to make meaningful contributions to the world. Particularly useful during periods of forced medical leave and pandemic lockdowns!
