Infamous Jake and The Pinstripe Mafia was a ska band from Amherst, Massachusetts that was around in the early to mid 2000's. They toured regularly all of the years that they were in existence but mainly played clubs and little concerts in the New England area. They finally disbanded around the end of 2006. The band consisted of seven members: Dan-vocals/trumpet, Ariel-bass/vocals, Matt-drums, Cory-guitar, Steve-alto sax, Zach-tenor sax, and Joe-Trombone. they have released one EP (Life is Good) and one CD (This Is The Beginning Of The End). According to their MySpace page they are "A band that will truely never be duplicated musically or replaced in the hearts and minds of their friends and fans."[1] According to Purevolume.com Infamous Jake and the Pinstripe Mafia is "Punk, ska, and hardcore molded into a mess of horns, distortion, screams and chipmunks."[2]

Touring[edit]

The band gained a larger fan base when they went on tour with a prominent Connecticut ska band "The Flaming Tsunamis"[3] They played a lot of local gigs when they were first getting started including Ska Saturday at Danbury's Empress Ballroom, in 2002. [4] They also played in a tribute concert for "Sublime" in 2006.[5]

Life After Infamous Jake[edit]

The lead vocalist Dan, and the drummer Matt went on to form the band "The Modern Day Saint," and Matt also went on to form another band "La Guillotine."[6]

Kill-Normal Records[edit]

Dan and Matt would join with two members, Andy and Ethan, of "The Flaming Tsunamis" to create Kill-Normal Records, which produced CD's for both "Infamous Jake and the Pinstripe Mafia" and "The Flaming Tsunamis", as well as other Ska bands from the New England area.[7] These musical artist include such regionally famous bands as "Bottle Up & Go", "Call It Arson", "Stab You In The Head", They and The Children" and "Via Audio".[8]

Recent News[edit]

While playing a show with his new band "The Modern Day Saint" a few days before Thanksgiving in 2004, Dan suffered a cardiac arrest and passed out on the floor. He was rushed to the emergency room where the paramedics had a hard time reviving him. He was in a coma for multiple weeks.[9] In 2006, Asbestos Records released a benefit compilation for Dan, who was a friend of the record companies, after suffering the cardiac arrest.[10]

Albums and Songs[edit]

Infamous Jake and the Pinstripe Mafia released two albums. The album "Life is Good" was a self released debut album. They also released the album "The Beginning of the End" under Kill Normal Records, in 2003.[11] Their song "If Assholes Got Awards, I'd Have A Atrophy Case" was covered by the band Bomb The Music Industry.[12]
