Bank Habinleumi (Hebrew: הבנק הבינלאומי), or in English The International Bank, was formerly called Habank Habinleumi Harishon (Hebrew: הבנק הבינלאומי הראשון), The First International Bank (of Israel), and is still known by the acronym of its former English name — FIBI. The bank, founded in 1972, has grown to have 4.2 billion NIS (nearly US$1 billion) in assets and earnings of 453 million NIS (over $110 million) in 2005, and is the fifth largest bank in Israel.
The bank services both large commercial customers and private individuals, focusing especially on customers dealing in the capital and foreign exchange markets.
Ownership[edit]
The majority shareholder is a holding company, F.I.B.I. Holdings, Ltd. (Hebrew: פ.י.ב.י. אחזקות בע"מ). Another significant shareholder in Habinleumi is Israel Discount Bank (IDB), which owns shares both directly and through various pension funds and mutual funds that IDB manages.
Habinleumi itself controls two subsidiary banks: U-bank and Bank Otsar Ha-Hayal. [1]
