County Highway 105 (CR 105) is an east–west county road in Fulton County, New York, in the United States. It runs from the Gloversville city line as Steele Avenue Extension to a junction with New York State Reference Route NY 920J in the town of Johnstown.[2]
Route description[edit]
CR 102 begins as Easterly Street leaves the city of Gloversville and enters the town of Johnstown. Maintenance here transitions from the city to Fulton County. The route starts by curving from the north to a northeast direction as it passes Nathan Littauer Hospital to the east and vacant land to the west. Beyond the hospital the route serves a small residential area.[2] The area of the town of Johnstown directly north of Gloversville is known as the hamlet of Pleasant Square.[3] The Pleasant Square Volunteer Fire Company is located on the west side of the roadway near where CR 102 crosses the Mayfield Creek.[4]
CR 102 (Easterly Street) then comes to an intersection with Phelps Street. Here, Norboro Road, formerly known as Easterly Street Ext, continues on the right-of-way northward, and CR 102 turns east onto Phelps Street. CR 122's eastern terminus is here on Phelps Street as it continues to the west.[5]
Turning northeasterly again, CR 102 continues in a residential area before meeting with CR 146's western terminus. The residential area becomes less densely populated at this point as the route passes amongst some farmland. It then crosses into the town of Mayfield where the residential area picks back up and the road begins curving to a more easterly heading. Just after a sharp curve to the southeast, CR 102 crosses over Mayfield Creek for the second time.[2]
CR 102 comes to an end at an intersection with Riceville Road.[1] Phelps Street continues beyond the juncture as a town-maintained road just a short 0.07 miles (0.11 km) to meet NY 30A.[6]
History[edit]
The portion of modern CR 102 (Easterly Street) between the Gloversville city line and Phelps Street was previously an unnumbered state highway. It was transferred to Fulton County as part of a highway maintenance swap on April 1, 1980[7] This section became an extension of the existing CR 102.[1][2]
