A series of old notes I added to my user page, which I will archive from time to time.

  • As of late June 2006, my profile page seems to be under attack. Somebody out there doesn't like part of my profile, and I've been having too much trouble trying to intervene before any part of it is deleted.
  • In July 2006, I found that a couple of articles I wanted to write were already written by somebody else. Hey, that's okay with me. I was beginning to think other people were reading my page and holding out on writing their own versions. Of course I said I'd contribute to them if I don't start them myself, and I meant it.
  • I also swiped another userbox I liked on July 27, 2006, and I'll do it again if I see one I like as well, as I've been doing.
  • As of September 2006, I'm starting to think I should create a whole new roads homepage like TwinsMetsFan. Once I learn how to do so, perhaps I will.
  • Mid-November 2006 Update: Right now I want to figure out how to make a link for all my images for my profile page. I'd also like to figure out how to re-arrange my list of road-related projects I started. Every time I try to do it, all the buttons on the top of the edit page run along the side of the second row.
  • Late-December 2006 Update: Another attempted overhaul of my user page. I tried to keep the userboxes in specific collections, and so far it's just as much of a mess.
  • January 2007 Update: For the past month, a lot of my images have been tagged for deletion. I really need those to prove what I've been writing, people!!
  • February 2007: Around this time last year, I started secretly contributing to Wikipedia without being an actual member, and still do without logging on sometimes. Some user liked what I contributed so much, they offered to encourage me to become a member. I put it off for a while, until something I knew was true, was deleted from an article I contributed to. On May 23, 2006, I finally joined Wikipedia. Though I still have rotten computer skills, and I lost count as to how many edits I've done, I'd say my work has proven to be quite valuable.
  • March 15, 2007: Well, I'm under attack once again. I found the title articles on some television episodes to be too general, so I made duplicates that were designed to be more specific, and was falsely accused of being a Vandal! Hopefully, this issue will be resolved without any further damage.
  • April 5, 2007: Almost started a sandbox. I'll try it again, someday.
  • April 29, 2007: Got my first Barnstar. I've got to check out more of these.
  • April-May 2007: My images are under attack by unfair bots. Plus, I'm under attack by these bots for Images I never even uploaded. Upon the upcoming one year anniversary of my life as a wikipedian, this doesn't look like a good sign.
  • May 23, 2007: My one year anniversary on Wikipedia. And even though I haven't mastered this site, May 2007 is the month of my largest number of contributions so far. I should take a wikibreak at some point, but I don't know how long I want to do it for, nor do I want to see anything I've contributed deleted all of the sudden.
  • June 3, 2007: My submission are under attack, I've been ending up in more edit wars, and right now, many of my most recent submission aren't being counted. Fortunately, there are still plenty of articles I want to create, if not then save, but unfortunately, there are others with info I can't get the chance to prove. A wikibreak may be coming soon for me, but I really don't know for sure, or when.
  • June 19, 2007: My 7500th contribution to Wikipedia was a redirection of New York State Route 5A to a blank variant of the same article with another description. Is it something worth celebrating? I don't really know. But I do know that I can keep track of my submissions a little better from that point.
  • July 19, 2007: I have officially joined TV Wiki in order to combat the rampant and unjustified deletion of TV episode articles that have been carried out recently. I encourage other concerned users to do the same.
  • July 31, 2007: My 9,000th edit: A second category for an article on some abandoned British Railway station (Brettell Lane railway station), which may or may not be correct. Previously, it had no category, so the best thing you can say is that I tried. Nevertheless, I still want to be able to track down editing mileposts like this much better.
  • August 23, 2007: Out of nowhere, somebody tagged my user page and a whole bunch of others for deletion. Not only that, they made it impossible for me to track down the number of edits I've made... either that, or it's just one of the PC's I'm working with. I can't blame anybody for my inability to track my edits, but I wish I knew the S.O.B. who tagged my page.
  • August 28, 2007: My 10,000th official edit since joining Wikipedia was an improved infobox for Nostrand Avenue (LIRR station). Granted, it was a toss-up between that, East New York (LIRR station), Flatbush Avenue (LIRR station), Long Island City (LIRR station), and even Boland's Landing (LIRR station), but I wanted to do one that had an image, and a subway connection that I haven't added before. Flatbush Avenue Station has too many subway connections, Long Island City Station has a ferry connection I've got to do more research on, East New York has no images(although it does have an "L"), and Boland's Landing is for LIRR employees only, so Nostrand Avenue was it. I'll take care of the others later. Apparently I'm supposed to get an award for this, but I don't see it yet. Oh, well. I'll just keep adding more data, and hope all the bots, and other editors don't try to delete them and hand me absurd excuses for doing so.
  • September 4, 2007: Joined WikiQuote today. If and when I'll join other branches of Wikipedia is anybody's guess.
  • October 6, 2007: I'm officially pissed-off at the staff of Wikipedia for deleting more of the TV Episode articles we write. The standards they're setting latley are beyond anybody's reach. Nothing is good enough for them. It's getting to the point where unless it causes some cultural upheavel reminiscent of the Fraudulent anti-Muslim Political Cartoon Riots of 2006, they have no significance whatsoever to the WikiAdministrators.
  • October 10, 2007: The saga continues. Since my Even Stevens episode articles are being deleted, the images I added for them are being tagged for deletion. This my violate Wikipedia's TOS, but I may start an enemies list in response to these rampant deletions.
  • November 2, 2007: I joined Wikimedia Commons, in hopes of securing some of my images(crossing my fingers), and since I can't always guarantee that other editors will take them and add them to the commons. But if anybody tries to delete them, I swear I'll flame their asses raw!


  • February 20, 2008: I've missed a lot of landmark edits since I made my 10,000th on August 28, 2007, including my 12,000th, 12,500th, and my 15,000th edits. Sadly, I have no way of tracking what these edits were. Nevertheless, I'm more focused on the tasks at hand than how many edits I can make.
  • April 19-21, 2008: I got blocked yesterday, because another editor decided to tag more of my images for deletion, and I tried to protect them from him. He may do some good stuff here from time to time, but that S.O.B. is among many reasons I prefer not to go to any WikiConventions. I will add more images in the future, but even if I break 20,000 edits, I won't find any reason to celebrate.
  • May 29, 2008: I didn't make 20,000 edits in two years, but after two years on Wikipedia, I've finally decided to move a select group of my images to the Wikimedia Commons. I've got so much to keep track of on the main Wikipedia, that moving them to elsewhere has become necessary. On days when I can't wait, I make duplicates so the bots and administrators will rush the old ones for deletion.
  • May 30, 2008: My 20,000th edit was the addition of a proper routebox for the Hamburg Street (Baltimore Light Rail station), although frankly I'm not sure about the direction of these routeboxes. As I expected, I've got no awards for this, and considering all the crap I've had to put up with on Wkipedia, I'm not anticipating one that much.
  • September 16, 2008: Another day, another a**hole. Until today, my userpage contained two images denouncing the oppression of the Chinese Communist Party, and the terrorists causing all the bloodshed in Iraq, along with the myth that they're all "the Iraqi Resistance." Never mind the fact that neither of them have the same goals or that most of their victims are the Iraqi people themselves. Some user decided that I was somehow trashing Chinese and Iraqi people, and had the images deleted. After trying to search this user's edit count, I found he was himself a communist, and openly goes along with this "Resistance" myth. When I tried to put those images back, he decided to be a WP:DICK and started and edit war with me. Then he goes to the administrators, and accuses me of vandalizing MY OWN PAGE!!!
  • September 17, 2008: Well the bureaucrats have won again. But it's not a total loss. The person who deleted my images has been going after other anti-communist data, and others have reverted his edits as well.
  • May 26, 2009: The bureaucrats strike again. They're now doing the same slash-and-burn work to road-related articles, as those who've carried out slash-and-burn work on fiction-related articles, including and especially television. Some of the arguments seem reasonable, but others don't. Nevertheless I continue to struggle to keep information like this alive on the internet.
  • March 2, 2010: My 50,000th edit is fast approaching, although I'm not sure if anybody is paying attention. I just removed a category from my watchlist that was tagged for deletion twice, and I wouldn't complain if there wasn't alreay another category that served the same purpose as mine. Come to think of it, I'm not really bothered by the deletion anyway. At the same time, I'm finding a lot of images that are orphaned, which could be easily categorized, and yes, moved to the commons.
    • March 2, 2010; Late night: A lot of articles I've been improving, and am working on requires shields that currently aren't available. While I have made quite a number of requests, I'd like to see some of them fulfilled so I can continue my work on them.
  • July 15, 2010: According to my preferences page, I just made my 55,000th edit, by tagging File:Pjc-princeton-branch.jpg for the Wikimedia Commons. I wanted it to be something more fantastic, but no such luck.
  • July 23, 2010: My 55,555th edit(according to my preferences page) was some adjustments to the chapters and sub-chapters of List of incidents of civil unrest in the United States. I'm starting to get a little worried. When everybody else gets a landmark edit it gets recognized. Be that as it may, I still think the edits themselves are more important than the fanfare.
  • October 11, 2010: I just found this link on another editor's user page(How many page views do your articles get?). He didn't give it to me, and he didn't show it to me. I was looking for something else there when I found it, but it's quite the convenient tool.
  • July 3, 2012: I'm going to sneak in the use of the category Pages missing lead section by adding it as a note to my user page. In fact, maybe I should do this with a lot of other categories that I want to fix, but don't necessarily want to add to my watch list.
  • March 13, 2013: According to "X!'s Edit Counter," I have 95,500 edits as of this writing. And all I really did was archive last months talk page messages on my talk page. I'm sure I'll surpass 100,000, but whether I get a barnstar for it is anybody's guess.
  • March 18, 2013: I saw this link to the Orphan Asylum Society of the City of Brooklyn last night, and I thought it might be an appropriate reference for a related article, but for some reason I can no longer find that article. Hopefully it'll turn up soon.
  • February 4, 2016: When I joined Wikipedia nearly a decade ago, I was hoping my contributions were an effort to make the internet not suck. Recent changes within WP:Trains over the past year have not only reaffirmed my belief in the contrary, but has infuriated me excessively. I'm not retiring from this site just yet, because there's plenty that needs to be done.
  • October 9, 2016: Wikipedia is becoming asinine. Removing railroads from station articles, merging city hall, village hall, borough hall and similar categories in to town hall categories, and now removing more state names from cities.
  • December 20, 2016: Wiki-Bureaucrats are getting stupider now! Posting images of Historical Markers are considered Freedom of Panorama violations!
  • November 18, 2018: On Sunday Morning, November 18, 2018 there were 200 images in Wikimedia Commons categorized as being taken in October 2018 in New York state, and only one picture wasn't mine. That used to me mind-blowing to me. More October 2018 pics from both New York State and New York City are still coming, no matter what.
  • January 12, 2019: A new feature in the commons currently puzzles me; "Add a one-line explanation of what this file represents." I'm not sure how I'm supposed to do that, or what that even means.
  • June 25, 2019: One of the blackest days in Wikipedia history. The last group of railroad station articles to maintain the better naming convention fell to the BS naming convention of WP:USStations.
  • October 28, 2020: I recently had two sandboxes for two failed proposed articles... actually lists; 1)[[:User:DanTD/Sandbox/National Register of Historic Places listings in Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow, and Irvington, New York|National Register of Historic Places listings in Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Irvington, New York]] and 2)[[User:DanTD/Sandbox/National Register of Historic Places listings in Ossining, New York|National Register of Historic Places listings in Ossining, New York]]. These were two lists that were intended to be split from National Register of Historic Places listings in Westchester County, New York. Unfortunately, there was never enough for the Town of Ossining, and my effort to sort out the ones for Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow, and Irvington proved to be a disaster. Therefore I tagged two otherwise potentially decent lists for deletion, and I've been trying to work on both for several years.
