Cabrosa is an American musician, writer, producer, actor, parodist and director. He is currently the bass guitarist of rock band Time Machine Drive By and the CEO of 411 records, LLC and its sister company No String's Attached Entertainment.

Musical Career[edit]

Prior to trying to become a serious musician Cabrosa took a few piano lessons and played the saxophone in band at school although neither kept his attention during his childhood. He was also in the school chorus during his early middle school days however he mostly lip synced to the other children and didn't actually sing.

In the year 2000, he asked for a guitar due to the fact that all of his friends at school were starting bands and learning instruments and tried to learn some of his favorite songs at the time. Later that same year, he "jammed" with other musicians who were first getting their start but nothing relatively serious came out of their musical sessions. While the reason why he wanted to play music was to ultimately start or join a band, there was an opening in a band at his school. However, it was not for a guitar player but rather a drummer. The band Atlantis gave him an option of learning to play the drums so he could be in the band. So at the end of 200, he asked for a drum set for Christmas and practiced while playing "air drums" to his favorite bands.

Atlantis planned on playing live anywhere they could and had an opportunity to do so at the lead singer's house but this never happened. Cabrosa

Other Career[edit]

Cabrosa's "parodying" career started in late 2003 when he found himself bored in his freshman year of college. As of 2008, it is estimated that he has written around 200-300 parodies. He also plans to to do a rock opera/concept album mega feature that will feature the parodies that he feels are good enough to expose to the public in a greater matter. Cabrosa says that the film will be UHF meets The Wall meets Scary Movie and the like.

Musical Style[edit]

Cabrosa has stated that he has always wanted to have an eclectic array of musical styles in his arsenal of songs. Most of the bands he has joined outside of his personal musical endeavors have been a variety of hard rock genres. While his solo projects have been garnered to more pop rock and commercial sounds, many of the visions he has had to collaborate with other musicians has ranged from hard rock to many versions of heavy metal and other crossover genres.

He has stated that if he could he would "do an album of every single genre of rock" that he has enjoyed and has inspired him.

Influences[edit]

Cabrosa's most early musical influences as a child and adolescent ranged from artists such as classic rock acts like Aerosmith and Kiss to alternative rock acts like Green Day and Nirvana to Michael Jackson. As he moved into his teenage years, he found himself becoming more found of heavier rock acts such as Metallica, Pantera, Marilyn Manson, Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne, etc.

He has stated that the reason he wanted to play bass was because of other bass players such as Michael "Flea" Balzary, Cliff Burton, Les Claypool, Gordon Moakes, Billy Gould and John Myung and compared his playing style with Earth Elsewhere to Adam Clayton from the band U2 and Kim Deal of the Pixies.

Vocally, Cabrosa has been compared to John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls, Daryl Palumbo of Glassjaw and Lajon Witherspoon of Sevendust. Guitar wise he has been compared to Mike Einziger of Incubus and on drums has been compared to Phil Rudd of AC/DC.

Equipment[edit]

Cabrosa's guitars include a Schecter C-7 model seven string and a Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty. He has primarily used the B standard tuning with the seven string and plays in E standard and Drop D on the Black Beauty.

Quotes[edit]

  • "I try not to look down upon people for what kind of music they like to listen to because everyone's opinion is welcome when it comes to musical tastes. I will however say that record sales don't lie, no matter what trend may be going on at that time."
