Rosa Winteler-Bandi (1875-1962) was the third child, and second daughter, of Swiss professor and linguist Jost Winteler and his wife Pauline. She was also an older sister to Marie Winteler, physicist Albert Einstein's first girlfriend.

In popular culture[edit]

Rosa Winteler was portrayed by actress Lucy Chappell as a recurring character on National Geographic’s first scripted series, Genius (2017). The series, which was based on Walter Isaacson’s biography of Albert Einstein, Einstein: His Life and Universe (2007), premiered on National Geographic on April 25, 2017. Winteler’s character was featured in two episodes: Einstein: Chapter One and Einstein: Chapter Two. The series’ pilot episode, which was directed by Ron Howard, was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series, Movie, or Dramatic Special.
