Ron Clay Belcher is a former Managing Director (CEO) of Shape Data Limited, a University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory spin-off company specializing in the computer-aided design (CAD) industry.Cite error: The <ref> tag has too many names (see the help page).^[1] Additionally, he has published over ten articles related to the history of Kentucky. Belcher is also the brother of Kentucky politician Larry Belcher.

Early life[edit]

Belcher was born in Campbellsville, Kentucky. He graduated from Murray State University.

Shape Data[edit]

McDonnell Douglas Intelligence Systems acquired Shape Data as a subsidiary on October 30, 1988.^[2] Belcher left Shape Data to become vice president of development for Spatial Technology (PlanetCAD) in Boulder, Colorado.^[3]

Legacy[edit]

Belcher was commissioned as a Kentucky colonel by Governor Ernie Fletcher, in recognition of Belcher's role in the computer graphics industry.
