To expand on the article we have chosen, the use of multimedia resources will be needed to fully understand the topic and specific subtopics. Our topic is religious music and in our group we have divided the subtopics up amongst ourselves. For example, some of the subtopics are Christian music, Muslim music, and Sikh music. To understand the histories of different types of religious music we will need to read articles and books. But to understand how this music sounds and the messages it portrays we will have to watch videos and listen to audio recordings. Without using several multimedia resources, we will not truly understand the significance of different types of religious music. For example, most of us have never heard Taoist or Zoroastrian music and listening to it would help us understand its meaning. For other subtopics, such as Christian and Muslim music, we may already know how they sound and we may know about the messages they convey.

What kinds of research will you bring to the table in support of your writing process?[edit]

The first type of research conducted will be in the form of reliable information from different websites. Varying from JSTOR articles, peer-reviewed sources and the inclusion of citations.Next we will consider different “.gov” and “.edu” pages to implement into our research. We will be collecting context for each genre;origin stories, vital insuremental tools, and potentially rituals performed. Attempt to include very relevant information from the past and a more recent time frame. For example, popular songs that may have had a unique reaction from the public, and iconic musical composers within the musical genre.  Also the utilization of Baruch’s database/library. Due to the musical genres being so cultural, we may look into Youtube as a source to experience rituals, festivals, and other forms of celebratory acts with the genre. Lastly, incorporate pictures that uniquely represent the musical theme so readers can physically see the difference in cultures.
