While I've made occasional edits in the past, generally to improve language or translations, I've created an account in significant part for the purpose of drafting an article about my (late) grandfather. The impetus came from searching for one of his numerous academic publications, not easily finding it, and realizing that another department head of the same department at the same university did have a Wikipedia page. I do not at all appreciate disinformation or using Wikipedia as a way to paint a picture of anything at all besides objective accounts and I readily disclose my conflict of interest in the matter of my grandfather's article.
I'm a native English speaker and long-time resident of Finland with some command of the latter language. I've taken work in the past editing academic papers.
Like Jimmy Wales, I was involved in a Chicago area, sexually-oriented (dating), start-up website in the 2000s.
