Wrong title[edit]

The Official Charts Company didn't have indie charts going back to 1980. The original indie charts were compiled by a separate company to the 'official chart' partly because of the corruption and major label/major retail outlet control of the latter.--Michig (talk) 14:02, 14 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there, thank you for bringing this mistake to my attention. To be honest, this template is based almost entirely on the similar {{UK Indie Chart}} template, so I assume that the same mistake is there as well. Do you happen to know who originally compiled the UK's indie chart, or when it began to be compiled by the OCC? Or do you think it would be better to just have a completely different title other than "Number-one albums of The Official Charts Company's UK Indie Chart" on this template? Perhaps just "Number-one albums of UK Indie Chart"? A Thousand Doors (talk | contribs) 19:19, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The UK Independent Chart article has some of the detail - it changed a few times. I don't know when the OCC started publishing an indie chart - I suspect relatively recently. The OCC's chart is fundamentally different to the original one as it is limited to sales from the same retailers as the main chart (as far as I know). I think just dropping the company would be best - the official chart compiler has changed several times over the years anyway.--Michig (talk) 19:58, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
