Display bug[edit]

I don't know if it is me, or a general problem: In Category:Living people on EN wiki who are dead on other wikis the maintenance category notice is very narrow and tall (160x668 px) and overlaps with the category description that should be above. The problem comes from the combination of the div style="float:right" in this template, the progress template (which uses its own div) and the Template:Wikipedia category. If I remove one of them, it works. Removing the div around the included progress template also does not change anything as the progress template has its own orientation definitions anyway, but this is not true for other categories. I tried to modify the progress page, but did not find a fix. Does someone else have an idea? --mfb (talk) 09:23, 23 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why is {{BLP living dead}} transcluded into Template:Living people on EN wiki who are dead on other wikis progress? That template is intended to be transcluded to the top of biographical articles, not to the top of Category:Living people on EN wiki who are dead on other wikis. That template can be viewed by clicking the link to it from the message in the category documentation:
Please add articles to this category by using {{BLP living dead}}.
I'll just remove it, as it's not intended to be transcluded there; that should fix the "bug". – Wbm1058 (talk) 03:55, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why is it hidden?[edit]

Is there any reason why the category is hidden? These categories shouldn't contain articles anyway: it's just parent categories that contain categories (that should probably be hidden) that contain articles. I'm going to unhide it. --Fixuture (talk) 03:32, 15 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Fixuture:, There's a longstanding consensus that maintenance categs are hidden, so that they never appear on articles. Unless these are hidden, they do sometimes appear on articles (until they are dated by the bot). Worse, they are a verbose cat title placed before the content cats, which makes a speed reader guess that all the categs are lilely to be similarly irrelevant to content.
If you want to reopen such a longstanding consensus, please start an rfc.
Meanwhile I have re-hidden them. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 13:19, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
