Grass Snake[edit]

I have edited the Grass Snake (Natrix natrix) page, because there are repeated mentions of Grass Snakes being non-venomous. This is emphatically untrue. As a herpetologist, I have it on good authority that Grass Snakes have venom glands and produce an extremely mild proto-venom, which produces little or no effects in animals that are human size, but acts efficiently on small animals, like frogs and fish. Having been bitten by a Grass Snake, I can report an itching and inflamed sensation following the bite, consistent with that of mild envenomation. 82.69.124.127 (talk) 18:31, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
