Italics[edit]

Please don't add italics to this template. Use of the Cyrillic alphabet already visually differentiates text, it can cause font rendering problems in some browsers when the common stress accents are applied, it reduces visual contrast to italicized transliterations, and finally, this template has been used thousands of times by editors with the assumption that italics are not built into it.

remove bold?[edit]

Could someone experienced remove the bold emphasis from this template, please? Currently the {{lang-be|something}} produces

Belarusian: something

adding a "false" and quite unnecessary emphasis on this strictly informative element? Optionally, with a link to Belarusian language, like it's done in corresp. template for Russian. ---Yury Tarasievich 07:42, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request, 16 October 2015[edit]

Please replace the contents of this template with the contents of the sandbox, to which I have added |lit={{{lit|}}}, which adds an option to include a literal translation. This template is also missing the |links={{{links}}}, which I have also added. These changes will make this template consistent with the template’s documentation and other lang-x templates. Edit request, 27 August 2016[edit]

Please replace the contents of this template with the contents of the sandbox (revision 736476265), which I have converted to use Template:Language with name and transliteration (like Template:Lang-ru and some others), allowing passing transliteration into the template, as well as the parameters User:Rystheguy added back in October. Thanks! — OwenBlacker (Talk) 19:39, 27 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@OwenBlacker: Changes look good. Quick question before a sync: is there an obligation to start tracking usage of a second unnamed param with Category:Instances of Lang-be using second unnamed parameter? — Andy W. (talk ·ctb) 19:51, 27 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Andy M. Wang: No, but Template:Lang-el did, so I made the same thing here. Feel free to remove that part (and the {{{tracking-category}}} passthrough into the documentation) if you think that's contentious. — OwenBlacker (Talk) 20:01, 27 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Done And added the reasonable tracking categories, since it probably makes sense at first to catch any instances of {{{2}}} potentially misused as this rolls out. Ping if there are any issues, cheers — Andy W. (talk ·ctb) 20:14, 27 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
