var. and f.[edit]

Hello! This template works wonderfully for species lists including subspecies (subsp.). However, the template does not correctly format varieties (var.) and forms (f.). Would this be a feature that could be added?Mbdfar (talk) 01:04, 24 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Mbdfar: I'd been meaning to generalise the separator terms. I've added support for var. and f. and this works with a test off The Plant List, which I gather is the source you were formatting (from your recent edits). Let me know if there are other separator terms required. I've also added an option to preprocess TPL lines. Use |option=tpl to reject any line not including "Accepted" and trim the string to remove everything after the authority.—  Jts1882 | talk  09:45, 24 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
you mean I didn’t have to spend way too much time making the list on biovar by hand? Anyhoo, while I am here, is there any chance of an option for Algaebase? They list Unaccepted taxa but flag them. --awkwafaba (📥) 13:53, 24 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It would have needed a modification to accept biovar. and bv. (what's the difference?). Now done.
Which lists in particular from Algaebase are you thinking of? One like this for Volvox? I've made a modification to only accept those ending in C and stripping the last letter when using |option=algaebase. —  Jts1882 | talk  14:26, 24 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Biovar is abbreviated as bv. But yes, that type of Algaebase list. Previously I have been just excluding the “S” ones, but i can see an argument for only including the “C” ones. Thanks for the mods though.  :) --awkwafaba (📥) 05:05, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much! This tool is a lifesaver. much appreciated. Mbdfar (talk) 07:28, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
