  • ALT2 was the one promoted (diff), which makes it perfectly appropriate to challenge the ALT. Owing to issues with another Armenia-related hook, I asked User:Nick D to take a look at this article. His comments, crossposted here from WT:DYK, are as follows:

"The hook is cited to primary sources (initial reports on the results of opinion polls), and his lead in most of those polls isn't large (and there's no clear single national hero). While the statement seems credible, a strong secondary source is needed to support such a claim (in particular, do these particular surveys accurately reflect the overall body of opinion?). I'd suggest pulling this hook pending a stronger reference, or a new hook. I don't know much about Armenian military history, but the article seems much better developed and the content on his military service didn't raise any red flags for me. The online references are in Armenian so I couldn't check them. Nick-D (talk) 11:24, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Well, my question was why was ALT2 promoted when Maury Markowitz approved ALT1? What if I personally prefer ALT1 too? There are a number of good sources on ALT1 and I don't think I can find other opinion polls to prove that he tops the list of national heroes of Armenia in public perception. Armenia is not in center of attention of Western sociological organizations that conduct polls. So yeah, I'll just go with ALT1. --Երևանցի talk 03:47, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Maury said "I prefer ALT1.", not "I approve [only] ALT1.", which implies that the other hooks were viable choices as well. I've striken alt 2 and am reinstating the tick. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:05, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
