Sangrador

  • ... that Leonardo Henríquez hired actors from Venezuela's "most Shakespearean theatre company" for his Macbeth film adaptation Sangrador, but the acting was still criticized? Source: "con la presencia mayoritaria de actores del grupo teatral Rajatabla, la compañía más shakespeariana de Venezuela" ("with the majority presence of actors from the theatrical group Rajatabla, the most Shakespearean company in Venezuela") [1] and "Las actuaciones [...] son muy malas" ("The performances [...] are very bad") - the [...] is a long side note on the strangeness of the actors [2]
    • ALT1:... that Karina Gómez' good acting in Sangrador was seen as detrimental because it highlighted how badly the other actors performed? Source: "Karina Gómez la única que en su papel (y sí, pensando encima en Lady Macbeth, de la obra de Shakespeare también) no queda mal; sólo que desentona y contrasta con todo lo demás" ("Karina Gómez is the only one in her role (and yes, considering it's Lady Macbeth of Shakespeare's work, too) who is not bad; except that it clashes and contrasts with everyone else") [3]
    • ALT2:... that Sangrador, Venezuela's 2003 Oscar submission for Best Foreign Language Film, only received 31 box office admissions in Venezuela that year? (Submission list here; official exhibition list table, search film title, here)
