Overall: epicgenius (talk) 01:23, 14 January 2017 (UTC)

  • @Raymie: According to the talk page wikiproject headers, this article is still classified as a stub. Although this isn't an obstacle to passing the DYK, it is good practice to update the rating to at least "Start class" if you expanded it. Regards, epicgenius (talk) 01:28, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
  • Also, personally, I think ALT1 is more interesting than ALT0. Sure, ALT0 is a fun fact, but ALT1 is just plain weird, and for that reason it has greater appeal. epicgenius (talk) 01:32, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
  • This nomination is good to go. It is probably the only nomination that I have ever reviewed that has 0.0% copyvio confidence. It is very well written for its length. Nice work Raymie. epicgenius (talk) 02:01, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
  • @Epicgenius: This is very flattering to hear! I just rolled over the classification. As to the ALT0 header, this was a significant event in Mexican history as evidenced by the designation of the site as a national park and dedication ceremony with the president on the centennial in 1967. Had I found this article a little later, I probably would have had this one held back for its date as 2017 marks the 150th anniversary. Raymie (tc) 02:49, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
  • Your explanation of including ALT0 sounds good. I was also thinking to reserve ALT0 for the 150th anniversary. I'm not sure if we can do this, since it's 4 months from now. We might be able to; I'll ask around. epicgenius (talk) 02:52, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
  • @Epicgenius: If we have to hold for May (instead of June 19), I am going to suggest this ALT2...
ALT2: ... that on May 15, 1867, Emperor Maximilian surrendered to Mariano Escobedo on Cerro de las Campanas, where he and two generals would be executed a month later?
I am so glad I was able to rescue one of Feryeah13's Mexico articles for DYK. There were some valiant, but very low quality, attempts at translating articles, some of which simply can't stand. Raymie (tc) 02:55, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
Nice work on the expansion. I looked at the history, and it looks like it was in bad shape before. Anyway, ALT2 looks okay and interesting, and we can definitely promote that. I asked for guidance in holding this hook here. epicgenius (talk) 02:58, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
Raymie, epicgenius, there's a maximum of six weeks delay for a special occasion hook; as I noted there, May 15 is currently four months out and not possible. At this point, we could stretch out only to the end of February. Sorry that this one won't work out. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:44, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
I knew about the six-week delay myself, thus why I didn't mention it and said I wished I'd found this article later! Raymie (tc) 05:57, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
@BlueMoonset: Thank you for the guidance. @Raymie: I guess ALT2 can still work, but that this can be passed ASAP. epicgenius (talk) 18:19, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
@Epicgenius: I think we should go with ALT1 because it sounds kinda hook-y — the others are more factual. Raymie (tc) 18:27, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
OK then. We should use ALT1, which was my original suggestion. I though ALT2 would work, but you're right, it's more of a fact, less of a fun fact. epicgenius (talk) 18:33, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
