Barna Hedenhös[edit]

Created by BabbaQ (talk), GoingBatty (talk), Werldwayd (talk). Nominated by BabbaQ (talk) at 9:49 am, Today (UTC−8).

  • This is a comment on the hook, not a review. Please see Negro. Given the time frame of those books, "Negro" would have been polite terminology. Lacking something. Offensive would be if the word was Nigger. — Maile (talk) 13:46, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
  • I think that is the point really. It wasnt offensive then but with todays standard for childrens books it is considered offensive which is stated in the article.--BabbaQ (talk) 00:44, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
  • I don't see the point you're trying to make in the hook. The article also needs a grammatical copyedit, especially in the lead, which should summarize the main points of the article. As it is, the lead is overlong, the copy is very repetitive, and the notable part, about the book being accused of racism, is buried in the last paragraph. BabbaQ, if you are both a page creator and nominator, a QPQ is in order. Best, Yoninah (talk) 00:01, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
  • Done. And if you look closely again you can see that QPQ is already done :) best,--BabbaQ (talk) 18:55, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the copyedit. There is now a tag in the last paragraph that says the material being quoted is not in the source. What would you like to do about that? Regarding the hook, how about something more hooky:
  • ALT1: ... that Bonnier Carlsen temporarily halted its re-release of one of the Barna Hedenhös Swedish children's books because the 1950 publication refers to Native Americans as "red skins"? Yoninah (talk) 19:51, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
  • Like your new hook. I think I have taken care of the issue that you requested. If not let me know. Regards,--BabbaQ (talk) 20:15, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
  • Great. Unfortunately, I can't approve my own hook per DYK rules. All the other preliminary work is taken care of – article is new enough, long enough, well-referenced, QPQ done. Foreign-language hook ref AGF. Could another reviewer sign off on this please? Yoninah (talk) 21:50, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
  • for ALT1. Creation date and article length ok, hook claim is referenced, the ref supports the claim (but only verified with Google Translate). AGF on plagiarism, as all sources are in Swedish. I would wish that the QPQ review was a bit more detailed, but it has been accepted, and that is that. --Pgallert (talk) 08:40, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
