Marriage clarification

Did Ziggy Marley marry a VP at William Morris Agency in 2004, or did he simply -decide- to marry one during that year? SlapAyoda 00:42, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

He married a VP that use to work for WMA.

Religion

Is Ziggy - as his father, Damian or Stephen - a Rastafarian? I think it would be quite important, as he is the son of the most famous Rasta ever, Bob Marley! And once there were some rumours that he wants to convert to Judaism, I think we should add some information about that, especially because all of his brothers adhere the Rastafarian faith and express their beliefs through their songs and symbolic (e.g. the Lion of Judah or the Ethiopian Flag). --RasNehemia 17:52, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Ziggy as a nickname

His mother Rita called and baptised him David, but his father Bob nicknamed him "Ziggy" in reference to a big spliff [1]. The rumour that his nickname was chosen after the character "Ziggy Stardust" created by David Bowie is true.

Which is it then? --Joewithajay 14:03, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

As I said above, the Ziggy Stardust rumour is definitely not true. -- CdaMVvWgS 12:19, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Ziggy

I have heard that "Ziggy" means a marijuana blunt, and for some time i believed it true. If you listen to his song "Ganja Smoke" and so you might think so too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.190.1.224 (talk) 01:02, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

WRONG DATE OF BIRTH

ZIGGY WAS BORN OCTOBER 17,1968.NOT IN JANUARY... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.11.112.251 (talk) 13:48, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Ziggy

I remember an interview with Bob where he said his son was called Ziggy, because he was always rush here there zig zagging around. I'll try to find that out

Also what does this mean? After his brother died Bob Marley he made a tribute song for him.

Utter jibberish .

for one thing, David doesn't have a brother named Robert or known as Bob. And if it is about his father it makes more sense since Ziggy was 13 when he died. He might have done this. 86.147.128.33 (talk) 18:36, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Ziggy Marley

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Ziggy Marley's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

What is his genre?

What is it? Like Bob Marley is it Reggae, ska, & rocksteady? —User 000 name 11:18, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Ziggy nickname origins.

Hello, I'm very new and made an edit on the Ziggy Marley page about the origins of his nickname. It was later removed because I didn't cite correctly. I haven't yet learned how to properly cite so it is understandable even though the information I had was from a book I own. The book is Modern Icons-Bob Marley, introduction by Scotty Bennett. It was first published by Virgin Publishing Ltd in 1997. Anyway, on page 76 Ziggy states to Melody Maker magazine in 1988 the following:" Me name David but me big Bowie fan. So at the time of the ' Ziggy Stardust' album, me call meself Ziggy and now everyone Do." I understand that it has been said the nickname was given to him by Bob either as a reference to Zig-Zags or perhaps from a soccer move. Is it possible that Bob did indeed give him the name but later Ziggy remembered it as if he gave himself the name in reference to David Bowie? That of course is pure speculation on my part. What I'm trying to say is if the book is reliable and can be cited correctly on the page by an experienced Wiki user doesn't it warrant consideration to be put on page as an alternative to the nickname being given to him by Bob? To be honest, I'm not confident about any of the stories of how Ziggy got his nickname after reading so many theories. If anyone would like to discuss feel free I'm just interested in the topic. Also, I would be fine with a more experienced Wiki User using that information I have given if they feel it is relevant to the Ziggy Marley page. Going to be abit before I properly learn how to reference and cite correctly so that's why I'm offering as well. All the best and oh yeah, its February 6th, So Happy Birthday Robert Nesta Marley! Rest in peace. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cottage Grove Dude (talkcontribs) 18:30, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

Ziggy is called that because of Zig-Zag papers, so the guy who said its about a big joint, you aren't right but you aren't wrong either —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.152.1.111 (talk) 12:33, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

You may want to recheck the comment about David Marley's nickname Ziggy coming from David Bowie's album. I believe you will find that the nickname came from a football/soccer expression - ziggy.

also rumored to have been after a big joint

He's definitely not nicknamed after David Bowie and his album, that's simply bullshit. His mother Rita called and baptised him David, but his father Bob nicknamed him "Ziggy" in reference to a big spliff. That's what Ziggy said in an interview. -- CdaMVvWgS 22:58, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

You know how ludacris that sounds, who would name their kid after a soccer expression? Also, who calls a big joint a "ziggy"? Plus, where's the source, this "interview"? I could say that President Bush banged an 8 legged monkey with 5 asses on Hara-Kari rock with a purple tuning fork because it was stated in some interview, doesn't mean it's true.
This is the interview. That Ziggy Stardust thing is bullshit. Period. -- CdaMVvWgS 10:37, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Although I'm not completely confident in the reference, on page 69 of No Woman No Cry by Rita Marley she claims "...he became known as Ziggy, a pet name Bob himself had once had, and which he gave the baby three days later, saying he had football legs. Ziggy describes a move by a football (soccer) player who can outmaneuver everybody on the field." This book is filled with a lot of stuff I'm not sure about, but the interview link is dead. Is [this] the one that was meant? 84.104.220.211 (talk) 22:56, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

The line about Ziggy at the UCLA Spring Sing in 2017 certainly does not belong in the Musical upbringing/Early career section — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.243.60.137 (talk) 17:12, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

Hey World LP

I don't know how to edit this page since it would require linking something, but under "Discography" the Hey World LP is missing. I'm just saying. Maybe someone could put it in there. Thanks. Greetings, Michael — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.77.109.213 (talk) 13:37, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
