Controversy and bias[edit]

The following section often removed by several users. Why do they remove such section. They wanted their own wikipedia?

This dispute does not require administrator intervention.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:15, 5 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yohani's Sri Lankan military connection has drawn controversy since she is a daughter of former Sri Lankan army Major General Prasanna De Silva, who is accused of war crimes and Yohani has praised him as a "hero" and she studied from the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University which is a military academy.[1] Also, Tamil reaction on her entry in Tamil cinema brought criticism on Harris Jayaraj and Madhan Karky.[2][3] It was concerned that she used by the name of art to hide or suppress the War crimes during the final stages of the Sri Lankan Civil War, specially divert the Tamil diaspora's effort.[4]

Also added the following edits. Why do people try to sensor?

Nalin de Silva express his concern that Research and Analysis Wing behind the promotion of Yohani's songs in order to win the hearts of Sri Lanka.[1] Also, a few false claims were made Yohani has been appointed the cultural ambassador between India and Sri Lanka by the Indian High Commission in Colombo.[2] Another false report were detected that there was no large crowd had gathered at the Indian airport to see her and it was photograph was fake that was taken in Japan.[3][4] --JusticeForce101 (talk) 09:52, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Bonadea: added primary and secondary sources from reliable sources and the person is very notable in Sri lanka for political analysis. --JusticeForce101 (talk) 10:24, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Bonadea: here you said "This might be a sufficiently notable incident, but the text doesn't tell us very much, and the source appears to be primary". So, again I added primary sources from youtube and two secoundary source. Then why did u revert while i ask help from admin? Answer or I will restore my edits. --JusticeForce101 (talk) 10:31, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
JusticeForce101, you added an anonymous YouTube link; YouTube content is almost never appropriate to use, and if you add a YouTube film as a source you have to be really clear about what it is, who the publisher is, and exactly where in the film the information can be found. If it is primary as you say, we certainly can't use it. The tamilwin.com source is almost certainly not useful for the reasons outlined in my edit summary (which you quoted); serendibpuwath might be a good source, and maybe some text based on that could be added. However, it should not be placed in a section called "Controversy", and it should be written in a way to make it possible to understand the information.
I reverted your additions for the reasons explained. You were the editor who added the content, and that means the onus is on you to show why they are appropriate. You should not restore the content once it has been contested, in particular, you should not restore it repeatedly. Thanks, --bonadea contributions talk 10:34, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Bonadea: can you add the last section in appropriate place. taminwin is good sources as it used in many articles and it is registered online newspaper too. thank u. --JusticeForce101 (talk) 10:45, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism[edit]

WP:BLPBALANCE allows to criticism and praise. Why some people only like to keep praise. Why can't you remove negative sections from Adolf Hitler. Is it some people show? --JusticeForce101 (talk) 09:37, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits clearly violate WP:BLP as it is WP:POV pushing and is irrelevant to Yohani. She isn't Adolf Hitler just becuase you see her as such. -UmdP 16:09, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, @JusticeForce101:, comparing this singer to Hitler is not a good argument (see Godwin's Law), especially since the article Adolf Hitler has no individual section called "criticism" or "controversy". Instead, almost every section in that article includes critical voices and sourced information about atrocities perpetrated by him or his party. I would think it could be OK to include a sentence about criticism levelled against Yohani for referring to her father's actions as "heroism", in the section about her personal life, and sourced to this article in The Tamil Guardian. Given that the Guardian article quotes a number of sources, it doesn't seem entirely WP:UNDUE to do so. But I'd like to hear other opinions on this. --bonadea contributions talk 10:38, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
