Interwiki linking question[edit]

I've noticed people added the following to this article:

[[de:Xavier Carter]] [[fi:Xavier Carter]]

At the risk of sounding stupid, what do those tags do? I'm still new at editing Wikipedia and have not come across them yet. I looked in the Wikipedia help section but could not find anything on them. Thanks for any assisstance. Seancp 22:20, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They are links to foreign versions of the wikipedia article. Note at the very left of each article in en-wikipedia there is a link to the equivalent article 'in other languages'. It is those tags at the bottom of the page that code for the hyperlinks. David D. (Talk) 15:17, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
