Allusion in title[edit]

What is the basis for assuming that the title is a reference to Emily Dickinson? I would think it could equally easily be an allusion to Aristotle's description of man as a "featherless biped". - Jmabel | Talk 02:38, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He mentions the poem in one of the short stories in the collection. ~ 24.168.57.47 04:09, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Hope is the thing with feathers. - Emily Dickinson" is printed on the second page, before the chapter listing. Additionally, the first short story features the line "How wrong Emily Dickinson was!
