IRMS[edit]

As per talk on the IRMS page. I don't see how the allegations can stay in the article in this form. While theres no doubt he's been hospitalised as per the Irish Times article theres no mention of IRMS. Until an investigation is of some sorts names IRMS as being responsible it remains an (admittedly likely) but unsubstantiated allegation. GainLine ♠ 16:48, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

As per the IRMS page, there's only one security outfit working in Glengad. Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 17:27, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A paramedic with the masked men then offered him medical attention before he was brought to hospital.

I would like to see a source for this claim as per WP:V otherwise it comes across as original research and doesn't meet policy for inclusion. GainLine ♠ 17:38, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

I've now found an Irish Times source that backs up the alleged assault by security staff on Willie Corduff, I've inserted it here and reworded to reflect the article. It still can't go into the IRMS article as they aren't mentioned. I know LP will say that they are they only security operator at the site but this counts as original research and it won't meet WP:V GainLine 14:45, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I cant find any record of the NPOV dispute or items in contention. Can we clear this flag please.Cathar11 (talk) 16:54, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cotton article[edit]

I didn't know Z magazine is self-published; I can't see anything to that effect on either their website or article. Where do you get your information? Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 15:10, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Take your time, Steve. Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 23:27, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Took me a while to figure out what you were referring to, but I remember now. When I saw this reference, it did look a lot more self published, but that was just a personal assessment. On Wikipedia, exceptional claims require exceptional sources, and in this case, the source provided, given the content, didn't meet the exceptional criteria, and for this reason I removed it. I'm happy to enter a discussion on whether a) The material constitutes an exceptional claim or b) The source provided is an exceptional one, but for the time being I am unconvinced of both the former and the latter. Steven Zhang The clock is ticking.... 21:57, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please be careful about being bold with personal assessments. Reporting the assessment of a medical professional doesn't strike me as exceptional. Pretty standard journalism, I would have thought. Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 12:01, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No? Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 05:17, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Would You Believe?[edit]

Corduff and his family were the subject of a Would You Believe? documentary last week. Why no mention or link in the article? Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 23:29, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replied here GainLine 11:44, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Good work, Cathar. Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 18:54, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GSOC bit looks better now GainLine 13:39, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

curious to the edit about the alleged assault. A person states they are assaulted. They say or said that. An alternative version of events is stated as as the truth "confirmed". This appears to be POV pushing. Both statements are alternative versions of the truth to place more emphasis on one and not the other is not corect. Remember JF denied any assault took place or any involvemnt initially. His involvement was only disclosed later. He is a former Irish Rangers and the assault and attack was described as professional.Cathar11 (talk) 13:53, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The only POV I'm interested in pushing is a neutral one. The wording was changed from alleged to said (Corduff) and with the IRMS wording claimed leaving an undue presumption of guilt on Farrell. Said for both is a fair summation GainLine 14:31, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose. Would it not be more logical to give more credence to the version that concurs with the medical assessment of the hospital registrar? Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 13:14, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Anyone? Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 12:08, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(Responding to GainLine) - In my opinion, "said" is too simple a word, and while I haven't seen the sources, "alleged" is a pretty standard word when it comes to crimes, guilty or otherwise. Claimed might not be the best wording, alleged might fit there too. I'll take a look. Steven Zhang The clock is ticking.... 22:11, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If the people who allegedly carried out the assault are reported as stating their side of the event surelythe person who was allegedly assaulted is entitled to state they were assaulted. Gainline and I were happy to put equal weight on both.Cathar11 (talk) 01:50, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As I said above, would it not be more logical to give more credence to the version that concurs with the medical assessment of the hospital registrar? He certainly doesn't seem to add much weight to the "chest pains" story. Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 11:56, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As well as this, Corduff dealt with Williams' spurious anti-electricity allegations against his father both in the WYB documentary and a letter to the Mayo News. Why is this not in the article? Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 05:06, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
reuttal of spurious bullshit from a hack like Williams doesnt require mention.Cathar11 (talk) 04:49, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The spurious bullshit is stated in the article as fact. Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 03:10, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And still is, two months later. What's going on? Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 02:56, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
