notability[edit]

The notability of this organization is currently unclear, since no secondary sources are cited. By the notability criteria for organizations, independent reliable sources are required to make sure that the subject is notable. These sources might be press coverage about the Society, or books in which the Society is mentioned. The sources may, but need not, be available online; it is however important that they are explicitely cited.

There are some hits at Google Books showing third-party sources where the Society has been mentioned. Unfortunately, since I'm in Germany, I can't view most of the book previews, so I don't know what these books have to say. I do think the Society is notable enough for inclusion, but I'm not sure how to go about proving it. —An gr 17:53, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

While the various Willibrord Societies are well-enough known to feature, for example, in the Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church, and while Bishops of the Anglican and Old Catholic churches play a part in the life of the Society (the Archbishops of Canterbury and of Utrecht are Patrons of the English Willibrord Society), there are no independent reliable sources which convey more than a bare minimum of information about the society. There are references to the Societies' activities in the ecclesiastical press (e.g. Church Times, Christkatholisches Kirchenblatt, but random explicit citations from ephemera are not useful for the majority of readers, surely? This Dutch text on the website of the Rotterdam Old Catholic Church mentions the St. Willibrord Vereniging, the dutch name for this society. I quote

"Contact oud-katholieken en anglicanen

Sinds 1931 bestaat er volledige kerkelijke gemeenschap tussen de Oud - Katholieke Kerk en de kerken van de Anglicaanse Gemeenschap. De St. Willibrord Vereniging wil deze contacten in binnen- en buitenland verstevigen en uitbreiden."

"Contacts [between] old catholics and anglicans

Ever since 1931 a full ecclesiastical community exists between the Old-Catholic Church and the churches of the Anglican Communion. The Saint Willibrord Society wants to enhance and expand these contacts in our country and abroad."

Reliable, but not independent. To really establish notability, we need to show that the Willibrord Society has been discussed in print by people other than the Anglican and Old Catholic Churches themselves. —An gr 19:02, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
