Relationship with Mary Finch[edit]

This article describes Mary Finch as William Savile's lover. However, the article in Burke's Peerage (1939) on Earl of Wincilsea (under her father Daniel Finch, 2nd Earl of Nottingham) describes her as his wife, saying that she married the Duke of Roxburghe after his death. Relying on the "fact" that she was merely a "lover", I edited out the prefix "Lady" for her daughter, since a natural daughter would not be entitled to this honourific. Something is wrong somewhere.
