Incorrect name[edit]

The Name on the article William Clyde Thompson is wrong, His name was William Candace Thompson. He was my wife's great grandfather and all our records, his Bible and personal papers all state Candace as his middle name.

Are there any official records that can be consulted by other readers that have his name as Candace? There is so much family information here; was it a family surname, say, on his mother's side?Parkwells (talk) 17:06, 10 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Editing: structure, sources, context[edit]

There are way too many extended family details included here, making it hard to follow W.C. Thompson's life as a biography, and to determine his notability. I think editors who want to include the varied information about extended family and distant cousins should put that content online at a family history site, rather than here, unless Thompson has real dealings with them. Thee appears to be much original research in primary sources such as letters. There are many cites to genealogy sites, such as Rootsweb. Generally only recognized published sources that have gone through third-party review, such as academic books, newspapers and mainline media, etc. are considered Reliable Sources for cites to Wikipedia, according to Wikipedia MOS.

Also, it might be useful to provide more context for the Dawes Act and registration of citizens among the tribes - were there other bands that were excluded? Cite sources that present the official Choctaw view - why did they oppose the inclusion of the Texas Choctaw? (I guessed but it would be useful to have sources). The registration and allotment process have had major effects for Native American descendants of these peoples, and deserve better coverage.Parkwells (talk) 17:06, 10 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
