One should note that[edit]

DC started its Vigilante series before the Punisher got his own regular series. Also Collins intended Wild Dog as an update of the Shadow, the Green Hornet, the Spider, etc. He stated it would not necessarily be a comic book version of the Executioner (which the Punisher in many ways is) as it would mostly deal with terrorism. Since Collins was sued by the publishers of the Executioner at one point (Mack Bolan and his thief Nolan locking horns, though in Collins defense the names were the only similarities)is quite familiar with the dangers of pastiching of Don Pendleton.

This -definitely- needs cites before going into the main article. Lots42 (talk) 15:42, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Casey Jones[edit]

Given that Nite-Wing and Wild Dog are in the same continuity...maybe one inspired the other. But Casey Jones is not, so simply noting the similarity is original research. Lots42 (talk) 13:47, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wild Pup[edit]

No mention of the Wild Pup? After all, that's the clear inspiration for Nite-Wing.KhProd1 (talk) 13:03, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On an ironic note[edit]

The Wild Dog character was originally called Red Dog. Unfortunately, a beer of the same name premiered before DC released the book and the publishers quickly substituted "Wild" for "Red". Too bad it was much ado about nothing...
