Untitled[edit]

Can anyone verify the veracity of the prior note claiming that Malcolm X attended Westside. I had not heard this previously.

That said, I'd like to include some material that details the unique circumstances of Westside/District 66 with respect to the Omaha school district, especially in relation to the recent Elkhorn brou-ha-ha. I would like to learn more about the history of the district and whether or not it existed as a de-facto whites only school during the 1950s and 1960s.

Ernie Chambers did not go to Westside either, he went to Central. Neither did Malcolm X. Malcolm X moved away from Omaha when he was 2 years old, look it up. Either someone has rocks for brains or someone is just playing pranks. Grow up.

The Ernie Chambers thing might be a misunderstanding. His brother was the guidance counselor at Paddock Road Elementary, which is in the Westside district. --Infosocialist 11:00, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is the show choir part necessary? There are tons of organizations at Westside, many of which are nearly as successful at a regional/national level.

Omaha Westside's football championships[edit]

Jhowl305 (talk) 13:55, 16 November 2013 (UTC) Westside has 3 state championships in football, not 2. The first came in 1966, before playoffs. They were tied with Omaha Benson at the end of the season and had a one game playoff which they won. They were declared state champions (their 1st). Easy to confirm. Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. To contact the writer would be orignial research, which is against Wikipedia policy. — TheJJJunk (say hello) 15:04, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
(ec) Moreover, the source provided for the table doesn't actually verify anything in it. We need a better one for the table as a whole. --Stfg (talk) 15:09, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jack & Jack[edit]

In the "Notable alumni" section, will it be appropriate to include the pop-rap duo "Jack & Jack"? In their Wikipedia page, it states that they have both attended Westside High School, however, they do not have respective pages for each one of them, but a shared page for their band.

So the options are:

1. Do not include them, as all alumni in that section have a respective personal page.

2. Include them as a duo, with a link to their page. (example: Jack & Jack, American pop-rap duo).

3. Include them as individuals, but with a reference at the end to the page (example: Jack Gilinsky, part of the pop-rap duo Jack & Jack).

4. Include them, but without a link to a respective page, perhaps a link to a non-existent page for future use? (example: Jack Gilinsky, which currently redirects to the band's page, but in the future might link to Jack's personal page if it is ever created).

Please let me know what you think!

@Nir Koren: #2, with a reference. GoingBatty (talk) 21:47, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No. 1, per the norm for school page and lists of notables. The group was not an alumnus. The individuals were alumni. They do not inherit their notability from the group. If you think they are individually notable then WP:WTAF. This alumni list was was full (almost one-third of the entire list) of non-notable members of various groups. I removed all such entries, not just the two redirects to Jack & Jack. Meters (talk) 02:56, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As I said in my edit summary, "Why should we make an exception for these?" Meters (talk) 03:05, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
WP:BIO states that they should have their own WP page prior to addition to an alumni list, but there are some exceptions (see Wikipedia:Notable alumni ). The aforementioned link states that exceptions to WP:WTAF can be grounded if the page is simply not written yet. While it would be prudent to write the page before linking, there is no set rule in Wikiproject:Schools. Therefore #3 or #2 would be most approriate Etriusus (talk) 22:46, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No. Where is the evidence that these two would clearly qualify for Wikipedia articles? An editor simply making a claim that thtey would qualify for article does not count. Unless someone provides reliable evidence that these two would clearly qualify for articles then they should not be listed. Meters (talk) 03:54, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Meters: See WP:MUSIC for the full criteria, cross reference this with Jack & Jack to see if the criteria is met. The creation of one of the specific singer's own page was mentioned in 2020 on Jack & Jack but nothing came of it. Worse case I can make the pages myself.
