What else can be added?[edit]

@Marshelec can you think of anything else that should be in this? I didn't write anything about the pool on the Square side - should I include that? Wainuiomartian (talk) 20:18, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Wainuiomartian:Here are a few thoughts:
  • for completeness, it would be useful to place a brief section at the top of the article about the 1940's building that is now the City Gallery, with a Main template link to City Gallery Wellington
  • the design team for the renovation/refurbishment could be mentioned in summary form under Redesign, including that Athfield Architects are again involved. See:[1]
  • it could be useful to highlight in that section some of the design principles adopted by council for the renovation, including the planned integration of City Archives, Library and Service centre, and Capital E and the target to achieve a 5 Green Star rating See: [2] and [[3]

The missing palm trees[edit]

Two extra palm trees were constructed when the library was built - confirmed by phone with the man who built them. The empty bases for them are along the colonnade. The trees were never installed, and instead at some stage between 2004 and 2008 were given/sold to the airport. Unfortunately I cannot find the news article that reported this. The palms can be seen at the entrance to the airport in 2009. In 2013 they were removed, possibly ending up in the airport souvenir shop? The airport says they gave them to WCC, but WCC says they do not have any information. Any sources for this would be welcome.Wainuiomartian (talk) 19:53, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
