need some indication of scale

This bike is reported elsewhere to be the smallest motorbike ever. But the photos don't give any indication of their scale. The dimensions are given - in a roundabout way - in the first section after the intro - Development, which states that (dissembled) it fitted into a container 12 x 15 inches x 51 inches long. At the external link given at the page-bottom, there are images (with notes) of this exact stage of packing, plus of a soldier straddling an assembled Welbike, so the size is covered adequately.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 17:03, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Yep, it says so in the article. But pictures are better than words. That's why it's generally better to see a picture than to read a description of the picture. 98.155.236.135 (talk) 20:35, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia has a policy of making images available to the world, free of charge and for any purpose, including commercial use. Generally, few individuals will make often-historic (desirable and valuable) images available on that basis, when there is a potential future sale to be considered. Wikipedia and image-hosting Wikimedia Commons have to be grateful for any morsels available; if of an historic nature, then these are often low-resolution, so of little commercial value. Accordingly posed or contrived replacement images with comparators for scale are unlikely to be achieved. I have tried to obtain images from Flickr which have the 'wrong' licence for Wikipedia use (Flickr defaults to '© All Rights Reserved', unless a different licence is specified, requiring a bit of effort on the part of the uploader) but generally Wikipedia doesn't seem to rate highly in their world. What's needed to improve the article and what's available are sadly two different things which aint likely to change, anytime soon.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 21:57, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

We have File:Dads Army,the motorcycle squad - Flickr - mick - Lumix.jpg and can copy over this one and this one to Commons. With photos like this you can often get the photographer to change the license just by sending them a Flickr message and asking nicely. If you ask 3 or 4 of them, usually at least one will help out. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 22:19, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

OK, thanks for that. I note that Dads Army has been reviewed by a bot, but I guess it would satisfy the 'Identifiable People' requirements for publication in that the re-enactor would reasonably expect to be photographed.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 02:29, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
