Warner Vegas

Don't know if this is worth mentioning or not, but local youth - and some old-time townies - refer to the city as "Warner Vegas," or simply as "Vegas" or "the Vegas." There are two differing theories as to the origin of the name. The first is that students from neighboring Macon's Mercer University would travel to WR on weekends to drink, and related the name of the town to a popular party destination. Mercer was a Baptist-affiliated school (not anymore as of 2006), so it would follow that the students would want to get away from Macon's bars, where they could possibly run into Mercer faculty. The second theory is that airmen rotating through RAFB in the '60's and '70's thought that the many commercial venues at the east end of Watson Boulevard (formerly WR's main drag) and their flashy neon signs looked a lot like a scaled-down, tackier version of Las Vegas's famous strip. Today, you can still see the remnants of some of the signs and their former Flash-Gordon-Ming-Alert glory, but by-and-large, the east end of Watson is a pot-holed remnant, a catch-all for seedy pawnshops, used car lots, and ratty auto parts places.

Not to mention Bull n' Dee's....

Schools

Isn't Houston County High School in the city limits as well?

Yes. The land from Houston Lake going west to Lake Joy was annexed in 2005.

The Warner Robins branch of the Georgia Military College should be included on the list.

Warner Robins American Little League

The Warner Robins American Little League team became the third team from GA to go to the Little League World Series (see [1]). It used to be air force, but changed to armed forces in order to honor all branches of the military. I am changing it back. --SayCheese (talk) 03:21, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

I find this slightly unlikely!

"There were 19,550 households out of which 0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 0% were married couples living together, 0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 0% were non-families. 0% of all households were made up of individuals and 0% had someone living alone who was 0 years of age or older. The average household size was 0 and the average family size was 0."

Are the Racial Percents Wrong?

Article says, "The racial makeup of the city included 50.00% White, 36.60% African American, 0.30% Native American, 2.60% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, .10% from other races, and 2.60% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 15.60% of the population." But the race percents do not total 100 percent, but only about 93 percent. (EnochBethany (talk) 16:08, 25 December 2013 (UTC))
