Additional References[edit]

I found some additional references/info that I wanted to post in an effort to add more to this page.

https://elpais.com/elpais/2017/06/14/ciencia/1497448463_297650.html (16 JUN 2017 - 10:47 CEST)- says she lost her sight to diabetic reniopathy. Studied physics at the University of Puerto Rico, got her PHD in space data analysis at the University of Glasgow.

"The satellites acquire the measurements and she listens to them by converting the mathematical curves to sound."

"Dr. Ken Coolers even talked about using sound to see , but never got to do it. Diaz Merced wants his research to attract more people with disabilities to science."

She was denied a scholarship by the national science foundation because using multimodal perception is not relevant to astronomy since there "there are no blind astronomers"

All american speakers page: https://www.allamericanspeakers.com/speakers/410625/Wanda-Diaz-Merced she can be hired from here.

"Merced realized that she could use her ears to detect patterns in stellar radio data, and could uncover connections obscured by graphs and visual representation."

More info about her educational history: http://introductionsnecessary.com/2016/09/13/wanda-diaz-merced/ mentions she has a PHD in comp-sci and developed sonification at NASA with the help of 2 othersj

Some other references say her PHD was in astrophysics, so I am not sure what her actual PHD is.

Find a Good Profile Photo[edit]

I found some photos on flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/tedconference/24443213514/in/photostream/ that are licensed create commons, but they aren't the greatest images ever. Most of them are somewhat far away or at a weird angle.

Hi there. I tried uploading of these to Wikimedia Commons but the CC-BY-NC-2.0 license isn't compatible with their terms. Anna St.Onge (talk) 16:35, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Educational Background[edit]

I wonder how and if we can find information with more details highlighting her educational path in depth. There is overall just general information on her education and schooling. Anngie217 (talk) 05:41, 20 February 2024 (UTC) Anngie217 (talk) 05:41, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
