Undetectable?[edit]

Re "free and undetectable" in lead. I suspect that ahould be "free and untraceable" per the following section? Otherwise "undetectable" needs some qualifying.--Shantavira|feed me 09:07, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The New York Times article actually uses the words "avoid detection", but "untraceable" is a more restricted word, so I'll substitute it. Clarityfiend (talk) 00:11, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Jobs legacy[edit]

I can't access the reference right now (news sites are blocked in my office), but did Jobs actually reverse engineer one of the black boxes? My understanding is that non-mafia phreaking got started on it's own through lots of research and social engineering, and Jobs was part of that movement. If the black boxes didn't directly inspire Jobs in any way, then I'm not sure he belongs in the legacy section. Katie R (talk) 12:37, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

After rereading the LA Times reference, I see that the reverse engineering is attributed to certain "others", which may or may not include the Steves (who are mentioned in the following sentence). Therefore, I've watered down that claim. Clarityfiend (talk) 04:02, 27 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Moscow–Washington hotline[edit]

The timing is off. The hotline was, according to its article, set up in 1963, not 1954. I haven't been able to find any further references that support what may be just his son's claim. Clarityfiend (talk) 00:11, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
