No sources, accuracy in question[edit]

I have some uncertainties about the accuracy of this page, as most information concerning a "Waffen Grenadier Regiment of the SS (1st Romanian)" stem from after this article was written, or on fascist websites, or on military enthusiast forums from ~20 years ago.

While some parts of this article are accurate (see the information presented in Traian Borobaru, Legiunea in imagini (Madrid: Editura Mișcarii Legionare, 1977) sect. "Armata Naţională") I fear much of it is taken out of context, or sourced through guesswork, forum discussions, or perhaps even original research (?)

I had previously added the hoax tag to this article and went back and forth about it, as there was a so-called "national army" for the Romanian government-in-exile formed under Horia Sima in 1944, after he (and other Legionary Movement leaders) were released from German detention. But what is unclear to me is whether it was organized in such a fashion (as the "Waffen Grenadier Regiment of the SS (1st Romanian)) and, as there are no sources provided in this article, I believe it warrants at least some kind of overhaul to ensure accuracy. This "national army" was commanded by an Alfred Ludwig until 1945, and thereafter a "Col. Fortenbach" (possibly Willy Fortenbacher?), according to the aforementioned photo album.

I have also removed the image previously on the page as it is "alternate history" fanart by someone on Deviantart, and doesn't seem to have basis in reality...

Overall, I think actions that may be considered for this page are either: rewriting and finding sources for the information presented, or possibly renaming and moving the page. Again, there are some parts of this page that can be verified, but others that are questionable, and it uses no sources whatsoever (and most online secondary sources are derivatives of the article itself). Seems the image was added back. Since there is no citations or sources for this being a badge of a unit fighting in World War II, as well as it being sourced from Deviantart under the "alternate history" tag, I have once more removed the image. Schlatters (talk) 03:20, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
