The result of the move request was: make WION a disambiguation page. This means moving WION (disambiguation) to WION, since the disambiguation page has already been undeleted. (closed by non-admin page mover) GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 14:17, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

WION (TV channel)WION – Extreme notability advantage demonstrated through pageviews: 1, 2. No discussion needed, really. NØ 11:49, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

This is a contested technical request. ~Amkgp () 14:03, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
  • Oppose – The WION (TV channel) is an English language news-based pay television channel in India that is owned by Essel Group and the WION is a redirect to WION (Radio station) which is a radio station with a full service in United States which is an affiliate of the CBS Radio. Both are clearly different and are not related. ~Amkgp () 14:03, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
  • Support or disambiguate. Both are clearly different and are not related, but that's not a reason for the radio station to occupy the title WION. It is clearly not the primary topic for the term. Pageviews very strongly suggest that the TV channel is the primary topic. Searches and incoming links still favour the TV channel but are less conclusive. An alternative is to create a disambiguation page at the base name. Certes (talk) 15:22, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
  • Disambiguation Page - Neither can really claim primary topic status. Make WION a disambig page with a link to each. This move should not have been done until this discussion was completed, though. ValarianB (talk) 15:44, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
Comment: ValarianB, correctly pointed the mistake. ~Amkgp () 17:34, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
  • Support - Just reiterating my support since this discussion was moved here from WP:RM/TR. It is blatantly clear to anyone with eyes that WION (Radio station) is not the primary topic over the TV channel. So no, I don’t believe there is any "mistake" in the move. In the best case scenario for Amkgp, they will get to keep a disambiguation page at the target.—NØ 02:16, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
  • Recreate original disambiguation page: Whilst the TV channel is clearly far more significant than either of the other uses of "WION", it has not been demonstrated that it is overwhelmingly so for both usage and long-term significance (having not been around that long) per Wikipedia:Primary topic. Also, IMO, none of the three are major topics that might be listed in any print encyclopedia or dictionary, and the hatnote is already rather unwieldy. Llew Mawr (talk) 03:25, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

– WION is a english news channel like BBC and CNN for example. we can see CNN or BBC neither of them is titled as "BBC TV channel" or "CNN TV channel" so i think fundamentally these type of pages should be titled with their name only. According to WP:COMMONNAME, common name should be used as title of article, so if we consider a random search engine result we can easily see that "WION TV channel" with around 1,10,00,000 results is not the common name when compared to "WION" with around 1,44,00,000 results. but still i guess some might not agree with me, so i would to attach one more proof of "news" section results. with 1,07,00,000 results "WION" is the real common name when compared to much lower "WION TV channel" with around 7,41,000 results only. and ya i know "WION" name is already in use for disambiguation page. so my take on this is, if we reached to a consensus to use "WION" as article's title so we could change that disambiguation page's title to "WION (disambiguation)". thank you.  Comment: AxG Clearly, WION (TV channel) is the primary topic here. you can see the above closed discussion for reference. according to the consensus of above closed discussion, it was concluded that (TV channel) is primary topic that is the reason that the disambiguation page has the title of "WION" which was earlier occupied by a Radio station. so clearly TV channel is primary topic here. and about that WP:COMMONNAME, this policy is very much applicable here, because this discussion is about choosing common name for article, which is in use by this article's own disambiguation page not any other article. Uttarpradeshi (talk) 17:49, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
  • Support clear primary topic for the time being. However, it can be changed where there are other articles named as "WION". 36.65.40.237 (talk) 23:54, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
  • Support per Bada Kaji. Clear primary topic. — BarrelProof (talk) 00:28, 8 September 2021 (UTC)
  • Support WION clearly turns out to be primary topic for now. 2402:3A80:1A46:6A97:399C:EB63:24DB:E775 (talk) 14:21, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

  • Support pretty obvious here. Ravensfire (talk) 16:38, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
  • WION should be named as WION and disambiguation page should be named as WION (disambiguation) आकाशगंगा (talk) 06:37, 16 September 2021 (UTC)

  • Comments The logo of WION (AM) contains other things apart from the letter WION. On the other hand the logo of WION (TV channel) is just WION (and its full form). However looking at the references for both clearly points to WION being used to refer to both. For a neutral editor, the best locations for these articles are the ones they are in now. However if you look at major news channels and publications around the world, everyone, everyone, prefers just the name without anything in brackets. DTM (talk) 11:57, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
