Updated List Of Companies

I updated the list of companies using Virgin's group website and google searching. Removed distinction between companies no longer owned by the group and those that are, as the information is not available in all cases and the boundaries are rather fuzzy. Made some slight other minor alterations. Generally surprised how little there is on such a big brand. Perhaps the page would benefit from sections on history, company philosophy + techniques, future prospects, controversies and financial statistcs. i will do it someday if I get round to it.

---Virgin Megastores was changed to Zavvi, which then went into administration. I'm not sure if they're still around or not, so someone might want to research this and update appropriately. :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.236.21.123 (talk) 22:53, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

?

It would be useful to have some history of the Virgin group here: how it started, when it entered various markets, acquired businesses, etc.

Losing My Virginity

Just completed reading the Book and very good it was to, an amazing fellow who if he had the time I imagine should be an Ambassador tasked with generating interest into everyone, or just give them a free copy of the Book, if you can pass on to him my thanks and kind regards I would be very grateful, I live in the Philippines where life is really a task to survive for the local population, the potential is here it just needs developing, tourism being one but it would have to be done properly no short cuts as is often the case here, Ok my Email is

Not until it's been started and there's a website. — Wackymacs 19:43, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Nevermind, seems it's here already: http://www.virginhealthbank.com/ —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Wackymacs (talkcontribs) 20:12, 2 February 2007 (UTC).

Virgin Games link

Is there a reason that the Virgin Games link just links back to this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.97.69.94 (talkcontribs)

It's because the Virgin Games page was deleted and set to redirect back here, but we should probably keep the link the way it is in case anybody later decides to recreate the page. NcSchu 23:37, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Adverts on Wikipedia?

From article:

In December 2006, Virgin, through their subsidiary Virgin Unite, became the first company to advertise their brand on the pages of Wikipedia and other Wikimedia sites.

Is this true or vandalism? I've not seen any of these adverts. Is this a subtle protest against the number of articles relating to Virgin Group companies? boffy_b 15:42, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Virgin Unite sponsored Wikipedia's fund raising for a short while recently - not exactly advertising, but similar. — Wackymacs 16:02, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Spelling Error in Info Box

I'm not to sure how to change it, since it is probably a template, but at the bottom of every "Virgin" page in the bottom infobox, it lists all the Virgin Companies but it has misspelled "wines" as "vines" Kev1n 18:08, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

That's because the company is called "Virgin Vines". NcSchu 20:23, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
Ok cool just checking Kev1n 04:16, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Actually I was only partially correct. There are two companies, one called Virgin Vines which operates in the U.S. and then Virgin Wines which operates in the U.K. I made separate sections in the article for both of them and adjusted the template link. NcSchu 21:02, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

CEO mislink

Not sure how to change it, or what the proper way to change it would be, but the "Stephen Murphy" link in the InfoBox goes to Stephen Murphy the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle author apparently. Does there need to be a disambiguation page? Or just delink it?

Confusion

Okay, something needs to be cleared up here. We have two pages: Virgin Fuel and Virgin Green Fund. Virgin Fuels redirects to Virgin Fuel, even though Virgin Fuels is technically now known as Virgin Green Fund (according to the website). Virgin Fuel (note the lack of "s") is the name that SRB spontaneously said would be the name of the actual fuel that is created (if it ever is..), and it's not official yet. I'm hoping to get some opinions here. My idea is to merge Virgin Fuel into Virgin Green Fund, redirect everything there and live happily ever after. I see no reason to have two stubs on almost the same exact thing when the name Virgin Fuel is speculative at best, and it seems like Virgin Green Fund would be the logical place to put everything. Ideas? If I get no answers I'm just going to go ahead and move it anyway... NcSchu(Talk) 20:37, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

December 2008

The lead says it is a Conglomerate then says it is not. What is it? 安東尼 TALK 圣诞快乐 11:18, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

I think I cleared it up a little bit. The BusinessWeek link has it listed under conglomerates, but no description of the company describes it as such, so I just took out all mentions of it. NcSchu(Talk) 19:45, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Virgin Group Navbox

The current navbox title should be changed from "Virgin Group" to something like "Virgin Brands" (much like the subtitle in this article) because the majority of these business are no longer owned by, or even affiliated with, Virgin Group. Many businesses simply use the Virgin brand under license and therefore have no direct affiliation to Virgin Group as described in the article (e.g. mobile, megastores, and radio in the majority of countries). Changing the navbox title to something like "virgin brand" is more meaningful. Imperatore (talk) 10:54, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

No reference links?

I added Virgin Produced to the list of companies. Official information on the Virgin company website gave more info: http://www.virgin.com/company/virgin-produced/. However that is not what I am here to discuss, I was thinking, shouldn't most of the companies in this list have references to something similar to that above link? I found it bizarre that not one company in the list has a reference link. I understand the lack of it if there is a Wikipedia article created, but I think all the ones without a Wikipedia article should have reference links, otherwise people will just add fake companies, or remove legitimate companies from the list. You can see the official list of companies, and links to pages which have shore description of each company at: http://www.virgin.com/company/ --AlexTheMartian | Talk 03:19, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

Difficulty in information

This article has major errors and will likely always have them, This is due to the way that the companies are structured - in an intentionally complex way.

for example, the following is the ownership of the company...

As we can see there are 10 parent companies wholey owning the next company in the chain before we get to the information wall of the British Virgin Islands.

Being behind the Virgin islands it is also impossible to know who owns the 'ultimate' parent company and therefore we should NOT assume that Richard Branson is the whole owner without evidence. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ryanharmany (talkcontribs) 22:16, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
