I've just removed some stuff that was recently added. I cannot see the source but the phrasing of the addition gives me concern: how much of what is said comes from the source and how much of it is original research based on the contributor's deductions from that source? You seem to be using as shed-load of obscure sources by relatively/completely unknown publishers and authors. I think you need first to list here the sources that you propose to use, together with an explanation of why you consider them to be reliable. We get an awful lot of puffery and misrepresentation on caste-related articles and it is often the result of poor sourcing, usually involving vernacular and Raj writers, so please can we start from the basics. - Sitush (talk) 18:51, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ketkar's work appears to be Maharashtriya Jnanakosha. I'll do some digging regarding whether or not that is reliable, bearing in mind that he died in 1937 & any entries he made about castes etc might have been heavily influenced by the various sanskritisation claims etc. We do not usually use sources from the Raj period. - Sitush (talk) 19:01, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
