Fallen out of use[edit]

I don't agree that the name has fallen out of use. I live on Sussex Way. Everyone considers this to be Upper Holloway. Epa101 (talk) 19:36, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't say 'everyone' considers this to be Upper Holloway, though I certainly got loads of post with UH in the address. sheridan (talk) 12:32, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Where else would it be? The next nearest place would be Archway, but we are a long way from Archway tube station, let alone the old Archway Bridge. Epa101 (talk) 16:23, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tollington[edit]

"The responses below relate to the postcode N19 4EH which is in Tollington ward in Upper Holloway.[5]" Really? I would have thought Tollington Ward would be in Tollington, not Upper Holloway. There's a map of Holloway wards on wikipedia which would confirm this. sheridan (talk) 12:32, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It says in this book on this history of Islington that the name Tollington fell out of use in the 18th century. It is a council ward again now, but the ward in this area was known as Upper Holloway for much of the 20th century. I'm not sure when the name Tollington was revived for local democracy.
