Untitled[edit]

in my book "the life and death of Hitler" by James cross Giblin, it says that Ulrich lost his life after being hit by only 6 bullet's, it also goes on to say that Hitler mourned the loss of his loyal body gaurd who had taken the bullet's ment for him. i think its strange that this book would say that and other sources say otherwise.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Blacky726 (talkcontribs).

♠Graf survived the debacle of the Beer Hall Putsch although he was wounded. Toland's account (based in part on post-war interviews with Frau Hanfstaengl, who nursed Hitler after his taking refuge in their villa in Uffing immediately post-putsch) recites that AH was heartsick over the loss of both Graf and Ludendorff, both of whom he saw go down. Of course, it's no wonder that he thought Graf was a goner; Graf was obviously severely wounded and was apparently lying right on top of Hitler, having taken bullets intended for AH (see Toland). Ludendorff, however, was never touched (although, contrary to most accounts, he did hit the deck when the shooting started, as would any professional soldier, by instinct). So AH's belief immediately post-putsch that Graf was dead was quite reasonable; and also quite false, as was his belief that Ludendorff had likewise been killed.
Graf also served -- along with Hans Frank -- under Major Walther Buch (formerly of the Reichswehr) on Hitler's rather fascinating internal "Nazi court", the Untersuchung-und-Schlichtungs-Ausschuss (Committee for Investigation and Settlement), which was established in 1926 to "adjudicate" intra-party "disputes" {actually it was to keep them quiet and out of the public eye}. Shirer, p. 122. Your source no doubt just "assumed" that because Graf was wounded so badly (he was) and because AH thought Graf was killed (he did think that at first), that therefore Graf was a goner. But Graf was a tough guy and survived.
Actually it's a pretty bush league mistake to write that Graf died in the putsch. AH made a big deal out of the "consecrated dead" and re-interred them, made a big dedication to them, and it's not at all hard to find out their identities. A simple check by the author against the names of the 16 dead putschists would reveal that Graf wasn't among them. One strike against Giblin for his research methodology :-)). – The Nazi receives 454 views and the motorcyclist receives 103 views. The Nazi should be the primary. Meanwhile, the disambiguation page can be deleted as it is not necessary. Hoops gza (talk) 22:54, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. Although "Nazi" is my favorite Wiki disambiguator, it's hard to justify when the Nazi is the most notable individual of a given name. These articles are written with some flare too, not smothered by the dead hand of BLPism. Kauffner (talk) 12:53, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Time in Munich[edit]

The deWiki article mentions his time on the Munich city council and a couple of other positions, but I have not yet checked the references. Agathoclea (talk) 17:22, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
