Ship name[edit]

I propose change the name of topic back to USS Galveston (CLG-3), since the cruiser never commissioned under hull number CL-93, and for the whole service life she is under the number CLG-3 or CG-3. Dieu2005 (talk) 07:57, 6 February 2012 (UTC) |[reply]

Ship History[edit]

There is a picture and proof that her 6 inch guns were fired "in anger" against shore targets in Vietnam. Did she ever fire a Talos missile "in anger" against a Vietnamese aircraft? Wfoj2 (talk) 20:53, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Patch of 1963-4 Tour[edit]

To commemorate the tour of the far east in 1963-4, there was a patch featuring four flags (USA, UN, Taiwan and Japan). This is a very famous patch as Tom Cruise wore it on the back of his jacket in the original Top Gun movie. For the Top Gun: Maverick movie, the patch had been removed during the trailers, but was reinstated after outcry that the studio had eliminated the Taiwanese flag to appease China. So this might warrant a sentence or two in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by UKTalentMan (talkcontribs) 12:22, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
