Names in various countries[edit]

Since there are categorised redirects to this article eg JZ class 37 it should mention the class names somewhere early on - I've put the names in the top of the infobox but there is probably a better solution.Sf5xeplus (talk) 15:21, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The appropriate name for this article[edit]

This article was moved by some user who is trying to WP:OWN the title WP:EDITWAR it back.

The article NEEDS to be moved back to its appropriate title, which is USATC S160 Class. The reasons are as follows:

  • This is its most common name, e.g. see Tourret's book.
  • It is established practice on Wikipedia to use abbreviations in locomotive classes.
  • This article existed for several year with its original title, with no problems whatsoever thereby caused.

The user cites WP:NCA - but the text in that does not support his absurd contention that "abbreviations are banned in article titles". The logical consequence of this thinking would see all other abbreviated locomotive titles moved to their full title. It is not desirable to have this article as an exception. Note I have move protected this page for two weeks as Tony May and The ed17 are move warring over whether the title should be USATC S160 Class or United States Army Transportation Corps S160 Class. The former left a message on my talk page inviting me to comment here but I have no opinion on which title is correct. Thryduulf (talk) 10:37, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"in popular culture" section?[edit]

should there be an "in popular culture" section? 5820 recently made an appearance in the 2019 version of Dumbo. Visokor (talk) 07:01, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Was the use of 5820 - or a S160 in general - significant in some way, or could another steam loco have been used without detriment to the story? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 17:04, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
5280 also appeared in the movie Yanks - it can be seen in the trailer at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlX-JIDiJCA&t=1m35s Tony May (talk) 01:16, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify, 5820 was the loco hauling the homecoming train Holt came off from at the film's start, I spotted the number on the cab. The strange thing being that the film is set just after WWI, so 5820 shouldn't have been built at the time.Visokor (talk) 12:51, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Wot?!? Wait!!! - A historical inaccuracy in a Hollywood movie??? Especially one involving a train? Who would've thunk it? Tony May (talk) 14:00, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Visokor: It is not the purpose of Wikipedia to pick holes in the plots of films. We report on the errors and inconsistencies that reliable sources have already pointed out. See WP:NOR. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 23:27, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The actual RRs, not just the countries[edit]

USATC S160 Class#Deployment Would it be possible to have the actual names of the Railroads and the actual classes. Just the name of a country is all but meaningless. Peter Horn User talk 21:17, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
